So spurs can spend more cos they they have all these concerts at there stadium.

Why cant we just make one of the many businesses our owners own "operate" from Villa Park?  Is that any less valid than the fact the stadium is used for gigs?

I dont really understand how the fact they host a beyonce gig means they can spend more on players.

Well, at least somebody’s bothering to have an idea rather than doing an Albion “it ay fair” impression

Second highest fine ever dished out.
We really are the bad boys of football aren’t we ?

Mad, bad, and dangerous to let compete.

Those clubs that are currently ring fenced to benefit from these rules will always be at the top because I fail to see how any club can suddenly generate an extra £200 million in turnover to compete. It’s impossible.

The rules benefit those who took advantage of the position prior to the bubble bursting, Chelsea and Man City, who let’s face it were diddly squat clubs not that long ago, and those other clubs who naturally have high turnover.

Turnover shouldn’t be the measure of spending ability, and until that changes, the football bodies keep the status quo as they are engaged to do so by those very clubs that benefit.

And it stinks

Yes, it’s impossible to raise revenue by £200m… erm, again.

Aston Villa recorded a revenue of £178.4 million for the financial year ending May 31, 2022.

Aston Villa reported a club-record total revenue of £378.1 million for the 2024-25 financial year,

Didn’t we hire some lawyer who specialised in financial compliance and taxation for just this sort of thing?

See the thing that scares me is Blues are going to overtake us with their £38m revenue and 122 percent of wages to turnover.  They’ll piss all over these rules.

Yes, tragically one day after UEFA announced their new "points deductiions for hiring legal staff" rule.

Depends what his brief is. Probably something like ‘keep us out of sporting sanctions while we push spending ‘til it blurs the lines of the legal limit’. I’m sure we could easily have easily complied by not spending enough money to win the cup or qualify for the Champions League, but we wouldn’t have liked that either would we?

Well Manchester City’s General Counsel is a Villa supporter and a former client of mine.

Although 'we' don't own Villa Park, which probably complicates things.
