Couldn't find the Corrupt As Fcuk thread..

Our Champions League payment has been confirmed as €83.7 million the lowest of all the teams who made it to the quarter finals.

'Aston Villa were the only quarterfinalist last season to get less than €100 million, earning a UEFA payment of €83.7 million ($97.5 million). That was partly explained by Villa's lower UEFA ranking returning to the competition after a 41-year gap.'

'Real Madrid's quarterfinal loss to Arsenal meant they earned  €102 million ($119 million) from UEFA in the Champions League..'

'Manchester City were the lowest earner of the four English clubs. The 2022-23 Champions League winners got €76 million ($88.5 million) after being eliminated in the knockout playoffs round in February by Real Madrid.'

'Europa League winners Tottenham received €41 million.'
What’s the source for these figures?
The figures for Villa stack up (I'm a saddo that tracked it last season) and don't even include gate receipts.

Yeah that does sound right - I saw something similar last season.

Its awful that they limit you on finances and then you get this value pillar bollocks.

Its just so corrupt.

How can any team catch these fuckers up when it is such a rigged deck?

How in the name of fair play can you have 8 teams reach a qtr final yet get significantly different payments.

Teams like Red filth, Arsenal et al have had 25 years of milking this. Teamslike us have not a chance in hell

It is the fact they have been doing it for so long that they have that much. After this season we should be in the top 20 or so, which will give us a lot closer to that amount.

That’s just it. You can’t. The rules are written to stop a breakaway Super League. It protects the finances of the commercial elite. We are restricted in how we generate and declare our financial incomings. Certainly don’t have the liberties afforded others prior to the current rules being implemented. And because of that we will never have the spending power or financial bandwidth afford to those teams. If we didn’t have Emery we would never be where we are.

But if you keep qualifying for Europe you slowly but surely start to close the gap as continued qualification attracts better commercial deals. It will take time though. A few shortcuts may be winning a trophy or two which also increases profile and attracts sponsors. This isn’t a short term project, it’ll take probably another 5 years I reckon to have closed the Turnover gap to a level where we can be more competitive. The fact we’re doing it with one hand tied behind our back and one of the best managers in all of Europe will make it all the sweeter.

Would someone please explain why historical results should affect current financial payments

Why should a team that reaches the same stage as another team receive more prize money just because they may have reached a quarter final 3 years ago?

What is the justification?

As explained above to stop the Superleague breakaway. UEFA caved in to the ECA on how future monies would be split and allocated.

I think the value pillar also rewards clubs with the most lucrative TV deals in their domestic market, from which the English clubs do really well, so be careful what you wish for. We don’t want that distributed equally with the forrins.

You are correct Percy. It’s calculated by your 5 year coefficient and how much your countries TV pot is. Some people mock those of us on here for keeping an eye on this stuff but it’s fucking important if we’re to close the gap.

The 10 year coefficient is used for non European TV money. (I think)

I think the cries for fairness might be strangled in throats were it to include fairness for the world of clubs below us in the pecking order.

Exactly. We play 4 more games than Man City yet get prize money less than €2m a game for reaching the quarter finals.

It’s going to be like this every window from now on. We will need to “trade” for want of a better term, in order to bring players in. Yeh sure our revenues over time will go up but are we ever going to keep with player fee and wage inflation or catch up with those further ahead? Probably not. I would love for us to have got Gallagher, added Tammy and not have to give up on Malen. Man City just added Semenyo to an already stacked squad just because they can. It’s so frustrating to have do this now every window.
