Difficult to tell whenever anybody has assessed on here over the years they are often over optimistic and when the reality comes out we still have issues. So I generally just fear the worst.

Percy seems to be talking about the UEFA football earnings rule and has now suggested twice - in print and comment - thatvRigers sale settles 25/26 season and not the coming one.

That’s the rule Maguire said we would fail but Villa’s CFO promised me we wouldn’t because if two transactions Maguire didn’t know about.

Borson also thinks Villa should have failed 24/25 and 25/26 and is searching for the reason we haven’t.

As always it will come out in the wash!

I never found out and he was coy about what they were. They aren’t supposed it be allowed by UEFA. But the figures for the football earnings rule are opaque which is why Borson floundering a bit. SCR is based on calendar year but the football earnings rule is based on the financial year.

We did fail UEFA SCR 24 and 25 but from recollection passed both PL PSR 23/24 and 24/25.

I take the view we will fail UEFA SCR 26 but will have reduced the % again so UEFA will fine us, not ban us and make encouraging noises about further progress towards targets.

I have no clue on PL SCR 25/26 which has only come in this year but you’d think that will depend on CL progress this season, qualifying for it next year and any further transfer activity in January.

Having two different reporting periods is a pain in the arse with PL being Jul-Jun and UEFA Jan-Dec. I suppose at least both compliance regimes are roughly the same now so the Finance Director is probably happier even if the rest of us get very frustrated. It’s the lack of transparency about how these things are calculated that really gets on my tits.

^^ This is what I mean when I say we’re not going to get it. We can only see positives, negatives and audited, reported figures; and we kind of know what the club have got do finance-wise in broad brushstrokes but not fine detail. Buy well, sell well, control costs, increase revenue.

Absolutely we can. Promotion and relegation too. SCR performance replaces points, revenue growth replaces goal difference.

Scrap betting on games and just turn Bet365 into a game of higher and lower per club based on 70% SCR threshold.

I think the VERY point of it is to be as convoluted and confusing as possible.

You only have to look at the way euro cup draws are performed to know that they love to make things as unnecessary as they possibly can.
