Unai Emery on Emi Buendia: "He didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay here. He wanted to be involved and work for Aston Villa. He is showing it every day. Energy, commitment, qualities, versatility. He is going to be very important, hopefully."

Good man, proved me wrong today. I still think he’s very much a squad player, but can’t fault his attitude or effort.

He makes a real impact from the bench. Shouldn’t be starting though I don’t think.

Aside from Tielemens, I don't think we really have anyone else who does what Buendia does, he's always looking for the through-ball or the one-two. Everyone else seems to run it down the middle/a channel or we go backwards. I really think with confidence and getting everyone on the same wavelength we'll see a lot from more Emi. So glad we kept him.

great work-rate and attitude by Buendia today - good output too which is what can let him down at times.
