I'm a big fan of Emi, but I think he's been getting knocked off the ball far too easily recently.

Recently?  Sorry Chris, I think that's been his biggest issue all along.

Recently, as in the last two or three games, he's really gone up a level or two. Probably his best performances in a Villa shirt. Obviously Emery trusts him and has had bigger problems to fix (the defence, McGinn and Watkins) but you get the feeling somebody has been having a word or two in Emi B's ear. I still think there's more to come from him as technically he's got the talent, it just needs fine tuning.

I hope Buendia becomes Emery’s next project after he’s fixed up Watkins.  He strikes me as a player with greater potential than the rest of our squad but working out exactly where to play him and how he should operate is a tough puzzle.

Lots of positives from today but only fair, I think, to include Buendia. To me he seemed to be everywhere!

He was superb. An absolute pest to play against.

Jenas on MOTD just pointed out how clever all his little movements are, always finding a pocket of space, always disrupting opposition lines. He was electric today.

My favourite player. I’ve said it before, but I hope Emery’s next project is Buendia as his ceiling is sky high.

Poor little Emi, he is getting no credit for the fantastic assist for our goal against Brentford. Match of the Day etc ignored him. In a crowded 6 yard box he instantly controlled a 'pinball wizard' of a ball and had the awareness to lay it perfectly off to Luiz to calmly finish.

Emi is our driving force going forward, takes risks, sometimes make mistakes but also deserves a lot of credit towards our fantastic goal scoring run.

He has allayed many of the concerns we had in the last transfer window about our lack of attacking prowess.

He's an angry little man as well isn't he? Helps when we're pressing, but I wonder how the rest of the players react to his little tantrums. Is it understood that he's just a sulky wee firecracker and no one should take them personally a la Bruno Fernandes, or is he resented a la Zaha?

He reminds me of Scrappy Doo.
Admittedly I only saw the highlights but I thought as well as the assist he did well to win the free kick that led to a chance for Ramsey.

Is there any other type?

I think it's easily the former

I definitely agree, but yeah, you look at his scrunched up bawling little face in those moments and think, fuck, were I his teammate I'd want to slap him!

But that's how it is sometimes. When he made that assist for Doug, calm as a capybara under all that pressure, I wanted to reach through the screen and give him a big embarrassing Latin smooch.

I've given some of my best pals to this day dogs abuse on the pitch, and vice versa
