I don’t recall Ollie Watkins red card (or second yellow) being rescinded after it showed he didn’t dive for that penalty.
You can't appeal a yellow - unfortunately - even if it leads to a red. If we'd been able to, it would definitely have been overturned.
The overturning of Sunday's red is another black mark against VAR for me. Either it's a hand to the face and it's a red car, or it's not. The ref thought it was, and VAR didn't think he'd made a mistake. Probably just evidence of nothing more than VAR not having the balls to overrule the on-field official. If it was questionable they should have sent him to the monitor.
I thought it was a harsh red, BUT, it WAS a hand in the face, which is a big no-no, much like head-to-head contact - you do it, you're off, whether it's a feather touch or a nose-breaker.
I do wonder if Jack making the most of it affected the appeal process?
