I'd love it if they made that the badge.
Genuine question: were we the first football club to adopt the lion as our emblem?

According to this we adopted the lion rampant as our emblem in 1956. https://sportslogohistory.com/aston-villa-fc-primary-logoA brief check suggests the lion rampant was adopted by Rangers in 1959, Dundee United in 1956, Chelsea in 1953 and Millwall in 1936 so the answer is likely no. Obviously if you're discussing it with fans of one of these 4 clubs you can claim we adopted it first wearing a lion on our shirts from 1878-1880. It appears the only crest we wore pre-1956 was the non-lion one from 1886-88.However the answer is probably Burnley who had a rather lion camp and unicorn on their crest back in 1886 or England who have had the 3 Lions crest since 1872.
Pottermus from Stoke is the worst mascot I have encountered on my away travels, though that weird mascot film they showed at Burnley away recently was surreal.

And where does he go after kick off? I always look for him but we reckon he sleeps on the roof.I wouldn't be opposed to simplifying the kit to just have the rampant lion on. Though isn't the lion because of our Scottish links?
