They didn't rebuild that stand, it just got tarted up a bit.

If we can tweak the North and get 50k in there, I'm all for it. Minimal disruption, maintain our heritage and we can all watch a match, Sorted. The facilities are currently basic, but the views in the North are great.

Crikey, what will be the overall capacity once we can get 50K in the North Stand?  :P

At the very least I hope the new stand has lifts, rather than Trinity Road style stairs.

Too many lifts or escalators will encourage senior concessions to keep going to games…that isn’t part of the money making plan

7 million rebuild with an extra tier and new roof.

I think they replaced the old mural and clock on it.

All done for Euro 96

Dalian got his two goals there shortly after it was finished

Would prefer us to stay at Villa Park and redevelop the North Stand.

Is there not a way to do this and keep some of the Stand open whilst work is ongoing?
No, due to the position of below ground utilities.
If we widenened it and re-roofed it this would not impact on existing facilities below ground. New trenches would be dug to accommodate new services for the new facilities in the extended areas.

I went past Parkhead recently and noticed there was very little around it, has it always been that way or did Celtic buy up houses and land around it to demolish and expand?

I recall from Simon Inglis' 'The Football Grounds of Great Britain' that Celtic had to do some sort of deal with the authorities because one of the stands overhung a cemetery, and the deceased had been promised an uninterrupted view of the sky.

I reckon 6ft of dirt would be a bigger problem than a bit of a shadow from a football stand.
This made me laugh. Brilliant 👏🏻

Yes it got that but it was on top of the existing stand, like Rangers.

Yes that’s why it’s a rebuild and not a new stand. We got there in the end!

It's not a 'rebuild' by your own description.

'Rebuild' means build something again, ie a new stand.

The Everton ground located on the docks gives it a nice feel . I'll always miss Goodison but that's a great move for the club , unlike say West Ham .

It was built again - that’s the whole point!

And the usage is completely correct and indeed accurate. It doesn’t mean completely build again or that’s what I would have written.

But I have lost the will to carry this on any further,

And that Leppings Lane stand and tunnel is horrible. I've been in there a few times and it's claustrophobic, feels completely unsafe and just isn't fit for purpose. When you then consider what happened there, how it's been allowed to continue is beyond me.

Even if money came from the football family, FA or government rather than Wednesday, it should just have been done.

It wasn’t built again, though. Sorry if that’s too hard to follow but all the clues are there.

Wasn't there reported issues of about fan safety only last season?

Capacity was reduced after overcrowding against Newcastle in the FA Cup.

It is eerie they still use the at tunnel for fans to enter. I remember going with Villa not long after the disaster and feeling pretty sickened looking down and I was in the upper tier.

When was Villa's first game at Hillsborough after the disaster and who won/scored?

1989, my first away game. We lost, Dalian scored the only goal.

I know very little about the subject, so I'm happy to be corrected, but perhaps the reluctance to make structural changes was partly down to the 'prevailing' (please enlighten me if I am using the word incorrectly in this context) media narrative that it was a result of fan disorder?

A narrative that has only relatively recently been publicly accepted as false.

Making changes might've been construed as some kind of acceptance of culpability?
