On page 57 (yes, the immortal number John alludes to), there is a reference to Bill Evans. Billy Evans was my father's cousin; played 7 times for Villa before going on to Notts County and Grimsby. Died at the age of 38 of lung cancer.
My brother, Bill Evans, lives in California.

This is a lovely, lovely book. We should count ourselves very fortunate in having in John such a talented chronicler of our ancient and much loved Club. We should also be thankful that John’s entertaining and instructive works were delivered into the hands of our dedicated editor, Dave. The resulting book is unique, and I am grateful for it.

Managed to get a glimpse of the book yesterday (my dad's working his way through it before I'll get to see it).  Absolutely cracking book - well done to all involved.
