Best Finisher?

Talksport earlier was asking who's the most natural finisher (goals not dinners) you've seen at your club? Dwight Yorke or Dean Saunders for me. Any better?

David Platt in my time I think, Yorke not far behind. As much as I loved Deano he had too many dry spells in front of goal and was quite good at hitting the woodwork. Dalian was lethal when he was on it but could be quite erratic. Abraham’s 25 league goals speak for themselves but that was at championship level and he could have had even more that year.

Andy Gray.

Can't argue with that. Gray was a great finisher.

I'm assuming that we're talking about strikers here.

If we were to include attacking midfielders, David Platt is hard to beat.

Darren Bent was pretty useful and Robbie Keane in his short spell  with us.

No one going for Gabby?....

If we are talking a pure finisher for me it has to be Gary Shaw. Darren Bent was excellent at playing off the shoulder of the last opponent. Obviously he was caught offside a fair bit but he played the percentages well and when he got it right he was uncatchable and usually scored. Platt was great at coming from deep. Peter Withe was also a terrific finisher with his left foot and his head.

Yes, Gary Shaw was a natural, clinical finisher.  What a shame and what a loss, that his career was cut so short by injury.  80 goals he scored in just over 200 appearances, pretty bloody good when one considers the level at which he was playing and that all these goals were scored by him at such a young age.

Gray - Shaw and Yorke better footballers but Gray as a goalscorer
