There was one against us last week that was similar to the Hause challenge wasn't there, ie a bit late at ankle height, that rightly only got a yellow.  Completely different to Livermore's wild shin-high lunge at Jack.

The difference being was the Hause challenge was a mistimed takle. Livermore was out to inflict injury.

I can't quite get my head around how 18 months ago we finished below them in the 2nd division table and tonight if looked like a 3rd round cup game against a 3rd division side.

How we've progressed in that 18 months is phenomenal.

Jammy vile f*ckers striking lucky with minted owners, innit.

Livermore literally was trying to cause him serious injury.  I have no doubts in my mind.  He was snarling.  Very bad behaviour from a pro towards another.

It was a dreadful challenge. Whistle had gone, he knew exactly what he was doing. He had hardly had a kick and lined up Grealish to exact retribution. Thankfully he didn't get Grealish's shin and instead got the side of his calf. Should have been a stonewall red card in real time. Disappointed a few of our players didn't charge in straight away and put the ref under pressure. At least VAR did his job and now Livermore likely losing their captaincy as a result.

Hause's one wasn't as bad but still gave the ref(s) a decision to make. Tackled with his wrong foot and got nowhere near the ball. The only thing that might have saved him was by the time he made contact it was more his foot than ankle. Similar to Robbie Brady's one against us earlier in the week.

Well, on this wet and dingy Monday morning I am up, I'm showered, I'm dressed and I still feel as good as I did yesterday evening.
Your birthday today LL?
But seriously it may be winter outside but................. :D

Yes it could have been another addition to their long list of assaults.

It’s so good to see a Villa team playing with such confidence and togetherness. Good performances throughout the team and although it took us a while to get the second the score line could easily have been 6-0. I absolutely loved Traore’s goal and the nonchalant way he finished with the keeper flat footed.

It showed some intellience, that not just to blast it.
Hause could have got sent off so I think we got a bit lucky. It obviously not nasty or rash like Livermore, but another time he could have seen red.

But Watkins, like many other players have been seen goals wiped off because of the thin lines.

And we need to be more clinical with the possession. A shot could go in, if the foot hits the ball an inch to the left etc. Another thin line.

Just watched MOTD 2 who didn't even discuss the disallowed goal - I guess we won so easily but at the time that could have changed the game.  Also pleased to see that although Jack went down there was more than enough of a shove in the back and we have seen in recent weeks the cost of trying to stay upright.  Overall a good performance and win and with a real chance to build something.

It’s becoming a theme this season that most, but not all teams, try to kick us off the park.

Got to love the bitterness.

The gamesmanship from the Villa team was just plain sad to watch. Kicking balls away, going down under minimal contact, feigning injury - this is not the spot I fell in love with as a child. Which brings me on to Grealish...

...I have never denied that he is a talented lad as he quite clearly is. But my oh my, what an absolute **** this man is. He has cheated against us multiple times in previous meetings and he just couldn't help himself tonight, could he? There he was, galloping in to a dangerous, possibly goal-scoring opportunity when he decides to fling himself to ground under minimal contact. The fact that it wasn't even seen as a contentious decision is beyond my comprehension. Shame on all those who tolerate this state of affairs.

Can we stop with the 'Hause could've seen red' it wasn't a red card and would've been incredibly harsh had he got one. It was slightly late and meant he caught the player on the top of his boot but there was nothing overly aggressive or out of control about it. Read the laws, the description for a straight red could come with a gif of the Livermore tackle it was so clear (and poor from the ref to only give a yellow in real time) the Hause challenge was nowhere near the same severity.

When Villa fans are joining in with this it just fuels the "it ay' fair" bullshit from the baggies fans who are clinging to it rather than facing up to the fact that they were toyed with and brushed aside with ease.

I've heard this for years in the pub, this holier than thou is bollocks. It's a Wengerism. Agin you it's an issue killing the game, for you? abject silence.
