You could scarcely imagine a more definite "that's a booking" tackle than that. A bit different to the weekend when we were getting players booked for uncouth demeanor and inaccurate grammar.

I have to say that the level of vitriol on the Match Thread and the degree of negativity on this thread is saddening. Yes, we should have won; yes, we missed a number of good chances; yes, some players are not to the high standard to which some on here aspire.
However, over the last three games we have played some really good football, created lots of chances and extended the experience of a number of players getting Premier League football.
We are a team in transition; characterised by inconsistency. We're getting better and are light years away from last season.
AEG got dog's abuse on twitter: read the match thread back (and there are some of my comments on there!) and this thread and - perhaps - reflect on whether the abuse is confined to twitter.

I have no idea about the abuse players get on Twitter, but El Ghazi was dreadful tonight.
Very similar to performances last season.

Great guy, and without doubt, instrumental in our promotion. He's not good enough for this level.

Hardly dreadful was he, he created chances, he had chances, he didn’t take them. That’s hardly dreadful is it?

I don't bother with the match thread.
I get the instant reaction but some comments are OTT for me.
Besides I can't multitask.

Mee manages to cynically foul Grealish and kick Watkins in the face with a high tackle. Stays on the pitch.

If ever a player deserved a broken fucking leg, its that ******. Meanwhile Wesley is still a few months off fitness.
Woah. Where's that from?
Where have you been? Ben Mee is an absolute animal who assaulted Wesley so badly he's lost a whole season. He did the exact same to Joe Gomez. He was an inch away from opening up Ollie Watkins face tonight. That's where the comment came from. Maybe I wouldn't wish a broken leg on him but if he did get injured I wouldn't be losing any sleep.
Talking about Wes. And lose the tude.

Good evening Mother Theresa.
Get a grip, FFS.
I simply suggest a bit of balance.

Can we all just calm down a bit thanks.

It was criminal not to sign another striker in the summer.
You not happy with this season?
I am happy yes. What’s that got to do with my striker point?
Your use of the word 'criminal' seems a little OTT.
We spent shitloads in the summer: we all know we could have done with more, but there's only so much ...

... I'm enjoying the fact that we are dominant and assured; we look like a good EPL team. It takes time.

Not learning from our main problem last season is criminal. Sorry if my use of language indicates something irrelevant to you oh holy one.

Please be nice.

Over the years I’ve watched enough of these games thinking we would throw it away in the last few minutes.

I thought we played well enough but it just wasn’t going to go in tonight.

It’s not as if we didn’t work the keeper, hit the post twice etc.

Everyone played well enough....just one of those. Can’t understand the singling out of individuals. Collectively we looked quite good. Chill out peeps!

I really thought we would succumb to a sucker punch, I just did not see the conviction in our finishing.
It was a very good team performance, with lots of changes we took Burnley to pieces but we had no one with the composure to just look up and put the ball inthe net. Our shooting was either wild or weak.
Just hope we are more clinical Sunday, pissing away chances is a really bad habit to pick up.
