They're lucky it's us they were due to play and not one of the teams that has European fixtures. It should be relatively straight forward to re-arrange for both. It sets a precedent now.

How many players are out and how big is their squad? Do they have 14 left?

We could be well ensconced in the bottom half of the table before our next game, Wolves away, a very, very difficult game.
Losing too many games, albeit playing well, is going to haunt us going into the Christmas period.
Agree , we have been chucking away points and now we are games behind.

Donít disagree with the decision, but weíre going to hit a horrible fixture list at some point.

Newcastle should be made to forfeit this.

Why? Seems a ridiculous stance to take in the context of a pandemic.

Serious questions need to be asked of Newcastle as to how 10 members of staff have tested positive, there protocols have failed big time

I  am starting to come to to the same conclusion of a lot of our fans on social media that Newcastle  should of either been made to play or forfeit the game They are the only team to fail to stop the virus on a  big scale .In this shortened season we now have to somehow fit in two matches ,they are already struggling to rearrange the Man City game as it is .

They are the only team so far, Iím sure it will happen to others maybe even villa. Itís the right decision and then being made to forfeit would be overly harsh. I would much rather beat them Fair and square  when we get to play them.

Apparently part of the issue was them coming down and staying overnight in hotel.

I know it's not ideal but couldn't they have just travelled down on the day especially given the late kick off. Many lower league teams do long distance trips on the day for midweek fixtures and plenty of them get a result.

To say Newcastle should forfeit the points, be forced to play, or infer that they are to blame for this outbreak in their camp with not the slightest shred of evidence of neglect on their part is unfair and shows us in a bad light.

To argue over altering the timeframe of when three premier league points are allocated because of an event which has already claimed over one million lives is distasteful.

Get well soon Newcastle.

As a club, I think we've done the correct and dignified thing.

However, as someone who dislikes Newcastle anyway, my view is that either Newcastle or the PL have failed in their duty of care.

If this outbreak is beyond Newcastle's control then it is a failure of PL covid measures, meaning all PL fixtures are potentially unsafe and should not be played. As far as I'm concerned, this reasoning also applies if this is to be written off as a 'random' outbreak that could not be foreseen or mitigated against.

Otherwise it is the failure of Newcastle to adequately protect players from an illness that we have all been living with for 9 months, and they should take responsibility if they are unable to fulfill a fixture.

Just my own thoughts. As I said, I think Villa have made the right response and of course I wish everyone affected a speedy recovery.

We'll have two games in hand on the rest of the league til the new year in that case. Has the Man Citeh game been rescheduled? We'll probably end up playing them twice in a row, home and away in the league, ugh.

On Man City that won't be played till January at earliest as no avaliable  date now this December as Man City are in efl Cup

On Newcastle  Utd match Theres availability for the match to be rearranged next midweek say Tuesday or Wednesday December 8th or 9th

We dont know full extent as such of Newcastle squad but the fixture could be fulfilled as earliest as this so could play the game that was scheduled Friday on Tuesday or Wednesday

I hope Bruce hasn't got it.  I don't like him as a manager all that much, but you'd think at his age and weight it would be bad news so I hope he's OK.  Villa have done the right thing here.

Good point. Often annoyed me as Villa manager but he always comes across as a decent man.
