With V.A.R taking 5 minutes to confirm obvious penalties these days. I would choose experience. Ollie looked nervous with all the hanging around waiting. So Jack or Ross for me.

Wesley took a couple for us last season.
Maybe Mings should be doing it.

Also saved from Lineker in 91 cup final although Dave Beasant was first keeper to save penalty in FA cup final I think three years before.

Can remember Shearer missing loads. Sorensen saved one playing for us and also when he played for Sunderland.

With some of them it's longevity. You play in premier league for 15 seasons and your team gets 5 penalties a year and that's potentially 75 to score from.

On penalty trivia, Max Kruse was on an unbroken streak of thirty or so without missing, stretching back nearly a decade until he missed last week in the Bundesliga. Would have been a new record if he'd scored.

I was just reading that a while ago, he left £60k of poker winnings in the back of a taxi. Which was careless.

Best penalty takers i have seen in all the years of watching Villa are Stan the Wham Lynn and Willie Anderson I don't recall either missing many if any at all
Willie Anderson missed at least one: skied well over the bar at Fellows Park on 2nd Jan, 1971 in a very wet 3-0 defeat to Walsall in Division Three.

Ollie chose same side and almost same spot as comfortable pen score against Southampton, just a couple of inches higher, shame, but he did look nervous.
I’d give him another go, want my centre forward to have a chance of scoring each game. Otherwise grealish or Barklay as already said by others.

Or Phil King

Haha i was at that game and had managed to erase that from my memory .Not sure if it is correct but he missed a pen on his debut for Villa  .Also when we won the 3rd Division he is said to have converted 8 pens

Jack should be taking them I think. Especially as Watkins had missed a sitter just before the penalty. After scoring against Southampton (with little or no pressure) I guess he was never not going to take it. Just didn't convince me beforehand and his technique was fairly horrible leaning back....always going to rise the ball then.

Barry and Yorke just seemed like certainties when they used take them. Milner too. Ashley Young missed a few I think, one at Arsenal famously...

for me I would go with Doug for pennos. I honestly don't think Jack wants to take them.
