Nice summary. I actually thought you got it right the other week when you referred to us as a “gateway club”, a term I have adopted. We will beat anyone on our day, a team that the contenders have to take seriously, although I don’t think we will trouble the trophy engraver this year.

 A comparison with that 76/77 team is high praise indeed. My favourite team, dimmed by the mists of hindsight and how young I was watching them.

ive kind of got resigned to never seeing us win the FA cup having seen us win the league cup, league and European cup, but this is such a mad season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it. Here’s hoping...now watch us crash out in the 3rd round to Watford! Fk it, let’s just enjoy watching things pan out. Whatever happens, we won’t go down with this setup in place, so let’s enjoy the the ride.

'76/'77 is a good shout; like then, we have a team that has it in them to be outstanding on any day; like then, we don't have an awful lot in reserve when injuries and suspensions come into play.
