I think having a game under your belt is an advantage see Man U , C P today 1: 2 loss
However didn't work for us or Sheffield Utd at the restart.

I really really want us to be more comfortable with the ball and retain it better than last season

I know that all depends on the quality of players we have but I thought that was one of the things that defined Smiths teams
rabbits it’s in the headlights far to often especially when pressed

I’m hoping for improvement on that this season and that will bring better results to boot

i think Playing a match  is more likely to get you closer to er match fitness

All of that and not depending on Jack to do everything/our one tactic. Hopefully Craig Shakespeare can help change things on the coaching side to. That said, Dean seems to be more involved, leaving the transfers to Purslow and Lange. Everything crossed.

we had a competitive match to use against Burton
how he used it is up to him

We've had a decent couple of friendlies too. Arsenal, ManUtd and Burton are three good games to get into a groove.
