I don't think you can rule it out, a basketball team is apparently being sold for $10 billion and that's not even a real sport, it's just something to do in PE when the pitches are frozen/waterlogged.

I cannot imagine that with the biggest motivator to Emi Martinez would be money when he hasn't even won a European trophy yet, and was a bit part player in his only domestic success.

Bit unfair to describe him as a bit-part player - he played in both the semi-final (against Man City) and the final of the FA Cup (against Chelsea) that he won with Arsenal.

There is also a HUGE gap between where the women's game is today, commercially speaking, and where the men's game is.  So it doesn't HAVE to be as commercially attractive as the men's game in order to still have massive growth.  It could quadruple in size and still be a long way behind the men's game.

It's already light-years ahead of where it was a decade ago, and that will continue.  The top players are all now on high six-figure salaries.  That's at the sort of level Shearer got at Blackburn (in today's money) in the early years of the Premier League.

I wouldn't be surprised if the women's game doesn't at least double in terms of commercial value in the next five years.  The first million-pound-a-year player will be along soon enough.

It would be nice if the Villa team were part of that, but I also accept that if today's commercial realities necessitate selling a potential future asset, so be it.

This maybe a shit analogy but will try. If they are currently under charges for financial impropriety, not one or even 10 but 115 ffs and one of the alleged severe punishments they could face is  transfer ban. Why the hell are they allowed to stockpile players before the results?

If you are charged with tax evasion you are not given excess time to hide all your money. Even if not actually proven guilty yet,they don't just sneak a couple in,  they splash nearly £150m on players and mainly for the future.

It's all bent and the PL are shit scared to serve right and proper punishments

Because Tax Evasion is a criminal offence and the charges Citeh are facing are not criminal offences, and until found guilty of, can't be stopped from doing anything.
