It's the domination of his box that we will struggle most with. Shot stopping he's been poor for a while for me, but his distribution and ability to come and get a ball to take pressure off is the best in the business for me. Tough to replace, but the way Monchi was talking suggests there are people in his head.

I’m not saying it will be easy to replace him - despite being a bit suspect this season he’s still a really good keeper and a big personality.  But he’s not as critical in a way that Grealish was when he left and I’m confident we can find another GK to fill the gap.  It’s be a bit weird seeing him play for Man Utd, but if we got Rashford in exchange I’d be alright with it. 

I’d be less ok if it was Sancho though…

I don't think anyone would have suggested it a few weeks ago, but IF Martinez is leaving and IF he's going there, it does seem like the best version of those events.

It isn't.  With Emery in charge, we are a very different club to the one Jack Grealish left.

It would be incredibly difficult to replace Martinez, not far off Grealish levels I think. It's his presence, WC winning keeper, distribution, shot saving, decision making a bit suspect last season but usually spot on, dominates our box. We aren't going to find anybody who ticks all those boxes, so it's a punt on developing a keeper.

Harder to replace than Bozzy surely.

Although that's all true - did anyone REALLY know we were getting all that when he originally signed? I certainly didn't.

It would be incredibly difficult to buy a goalkeeper already widely recognised as Emi's peer - maybe impossible - but to buy a goalkeeper who can be good on day one and BECOME what he's become for us? No, that's definitely possible.  Far from easy, but entirely possible.

Yep. Emery clearly loves Rashford, and he without doubt has the extra yard of pace in behind that makes us way more effective away from home at 9, and a proper threat from the left at home. If Emi does want United, that is the kind of deal I can see it being.

I think it's pretty obvious that despite his "comeback" with Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford has no intention to make the move permanent.  All quotes from him have been empty of any sense of an appetite to commit to Villa.

He's on record as saying he's enjoyed himself and feels at home here, I don't think we'll be able to do it but I'd guess there are a few plates spinning with who if anyone is going before the end of the month.

I still wouldn't be shocked if we ended up with him here in some way next season, if only on another loan.
