Getting a bit big for his boots perhaps, but I'd prefer him over Olsen, Sinisalo, Zych...

Neil Cutler mentioned, about Emi’s personality, that you have to keep a handle on him to stop him boiling over.
I wonder whether this is what’s happening? Cuts isn’t there to calm him down!

Whether Emi should have gone up for the corner is a moot point. What hasn’t been mentioned to any great degree is the atrocious corner kick by Digne to give his decision a chance of being the right one. It was a shocking corner. Who was he aiming at?

I can't remember a single decent cross from Digne since we bought him, he's crap.

McPhee must have been blowing a gasket at the outswinger option for that corner.

Bailey was a disgrace in that breakaway, barely got a jog on as they sprinted past him.

Yep, he kind of looked, shrugged and slowed down. I was properly pissed off with that.

As for Martinez going up for the corner, it was the last throw of the dice, it rarely comes off, but it could have worked. Even if he'd stayed back, the way Arsenal broke forward they would likely have scored anyway.

Indeed - last minute, packed box, you want it coming down in and around the six yard line and drifting towards the goal itself!  Terrible choice of set-piece, unless he was trying to pick someone specific out and just ballsed it up completely.

Possibly he was anxious to avoid hitting the first man, and just over compensated.

I thought Martinez had a poor game - his distribution was way off.  But that doesn't mean he's suddenly a shit keeper and we should sell him.

I've not got a problem with him going up for the corner.  Sometimes it pays off - it's a hail Mary.

Emery was very that he won’t be doing it again.

Yep and I've no problem with that - it's his call. But it didn't bother me that much, it happens quite regularly and it's not often the keeper gets caught out.  We had lost anyway.

Listened to football weekly podcast earlier and an Arsenal fan contributor ( who’s generally anti Villa anyway) was crowing about Martinez’ misfortune but also mentioned the disrespectful way he left Arsenal, anyone know what that’s about?
It was my recollection that he got in the first team because of Leno’s injury, played in the Cup Final but wasn’t promised the number 1 shirt once Leno was fit again.

Edit. Just read the last few pages of Arsenal post match thread where my question has been partly answered.

I happen to think that Emery was so madly fucked off with it all that Emi’s decision got caught in the crossfire. It wasn’t like it was 2-2. But you could see a manager starting to piece together that several of this group while decent they can’t play his way. It’s going to be a very busy summer.

Pretty much my take on it too.
Emery was clearly pissed off that we hadn't been able to maintain our shape and possession and see the game out; conceded a soft 2nd equaliser, conceded a ridiculously un/lucky 3rd then the keeper does a thing that contributes to us conceding a fourth!
He was pissed off with the whole team!
