If I was in charge of Spurs no way am I ever lashing out the kind of money it would take to buy Emi. They have a number of other issues to address. Go buy the Leeds, Brentford or Brighton keeper for £25m and invest in players to try and keep Kane around.

I just find it kind of surprising that some people admit the next window is key, and seem convinced we’ll do what we need to do. We have a hell of a lot of work to do and we’ve got a catalogue of evidence to show we consistently don’t make that step. Bloody hell, just read this thread starting with that Martinez article about 10 pages back ... depressing stuff.

The worrying thing is the symmetry between people saying that we're not progressing fast enough for Martinez ... which is what people were saying about us & Joe before he left. Not progressing quickly enough to keep (players who aren't mediocre at this level).

I'm slowly being turned around to the Risso viewpoint. You either want to win stuff or you don't, and whilst I'm sure we've been 'sensible' in January, it's hardly screamed ambition.

This summer will be huge for the club. I'm happy with not investing too much in Gerrard and late-era Smith since there were question marks hanging over both. But fail in the summer to properly back Emery and I can't see that these owners actually intend much more than treading water.

It’s amazing that as soon as one of our players simply whispers CL or indicates anything resembling professional ambition, that there is immediate reaction amongst some that he must be off. I suppose it’s what happens when players have left us that immediately triggers a fear that we no longer can hang on to anyone. It has made us really fragile as a fan base and as a club.
