I don't see much wrong there

Quote
Unai Emery has encouraged Emiliano Martinez to readjust back to life at Aston Villa quickly after he helped Argentina win the World Cup.

The goalkeeper is now back at Aston Villa after he played brilliantly in Qatar as Argentina won the World Cup for the third time.

He is due to be available for Villa’s New Year’s Day game at Tottenham after missing their 3-1 Boxing Day loss to Liverpool.

But after his heroics in Doha – and controversial celebrations – Emery wants the 30-year-old to be ready emotionally.

“He is going to be available physically and his mentality we are going to check,” he said.

“Hopefully he is coming 100 per cent focused on Aston Villa. Of course he needs to adapt quickly again in our work.

“When Emiliano is coming back (he has) to adapt again in a new way with us.

“Congratulations to him and now we are here thinking of our step ahead with Aston Villa.

“For us we are proud of him. Every Aston Villa supporter must be proud of him. We have in our team and our squad a winner of a World Cup, which he deserves.

“He is pushing his team-mates on the training ground every day.

“When he is coming back we have to try to introduce him again into our everyday and to be positive to use his energy and trying to use his mentality to help us.”

I'd rather have an emotionally compromised, hungover Martinez than Olson any day. In fact, an industrial sized dustbin placed on the goal line would do it.

I'd have more faith in that if you could quote properly.

I am almost certainly imagining things but on the gallery on the OS of today's training, he looks both fucking knackered and unhappy.

I hope his head is in the right place for Spurs.

It’s hard enough smiling after one night on the shandys when you hit 30, let alone a two week bender.

He’ll cheer up when he keeps a clean sheet against Spuds.

I'm sick to fucking death of the Emiliano Martinez show. Has there ever been such a fuss over a world-cup winner?

Get your fucking head down and earn your  money!

What makes you think for a second that he won’t get his head down and earn his money. And for what it’s worth it’s 24 hour sports media, social media and obsessed fans making more of a deal of this than he is. If this was 1986 and he was in that Argentina team most of the celebrations including anything specific to him would go unnoticed. He’s done nothing wrong other than achieve a major career milestone and have a lot of fun with it. I don’t see the issue. And of this was a summer WC none of us would be rushing him back because he would naturally have the time off. Having games literally after the tournament ended is stupid.

Not been much fuss over here.

Assume the the French perspective must be a bit different.

I wonder why.

He’s already missed one game which we would have Defo won if he’d had played
So that’s three points dropped how many more ?

Carry on like this it could cost us are Champions League spot

Woooooosh (I assume) 😊

I hope I have swung and missed but there are fans on here and elsewhere who think he should have been back for Boxing Day.
