I wasn't on about the Martinez thing being racist, but the video I saw of someone in Buenos Aires lynching an Mbappe effigy has racist overtones.
There is no doubt there are the usual number of racists ****** in the 4 million who were out just as we have our own quota. I think it’s reasonable that normal Argentinian fans treat Mbappe like we abused Fernandes after he sent his kick to mars. It’s what fans do however Emi needs to tone it down a bit. That gesture at the podium takes away a bit from his triumph.

The gesture at the podium was funny, in an "I can't believe he just did that in front of the Qataris" way. I'd like them to move on from the Mbappe taunting now, though.

On the world stage, Emi's skills and antics certainly contributed to Argentina's win. He is the talk of the world. Do you only get away with those antics once?

Every referee in the world is now aware of his antics and their tolerance levels are likely to be zero. Opposing fans will be on his case from the first minute and will be screaming the referee takes action.

For the foreseeable, Emi might have to change his ways or he could be walking a tightrope!!

Argentina are the winners, I hope Aston Villa are not the losers.

I’m having this very conversation on a What’s App group. I’ve concluded, that Martinez’s work regarding the mind games is done. The world knows he’s good at pens and with the exception of Mbappe penalty takers will have a fear of him saving their kick.

A fair conclusion. His time wasting habits will probably have to change as well. Could be for the best.

I've been surprised he has been able to continue getting away with the timewasting in the Premier League.

Evidently the intimidation at penalty kicks will continue to work with some and not others.

Emi should lay off Mbappe and perhaps remember he put three penalties past him and scored a hat trick in a World Cup final, whilst being only 23 years old.

I love him and the shit housing is usually great but a bit of reflection on his part rather than diving in might be a good idea.

Scored three penalties and still lost seems like the perfect target.

Whatever he thinks, Mbappe won their battle - scored a hat trick and nothing Emi could do about it. Emi needs to man up and show some respect.

Yes they were fantastic goals. I really wanted Emi to save the pens. He got so close, but they were too good.

Maybe some of that is coming out.

No need for any hand-wringing about how he chooses to celebrate imo, let him enjoy himself.

Emi’s got a World Cup winners medal, Mbappe hasn’t.

There’s a short window of opportunity for Emi to make the most of this result, should he wish - and he certainly does!

A lot of us think, well, he’s ours, he’s ‘top of the world, Ma,’ at the moment, which excuses a lot and he’s been absolutely great for Villa, which excuses everything so far.

Then hope that nothing comes back to bite him on the bum later this season, about which I don’t think many of us would be terribly forgiving!

Mbappe has. And four goals plus one in a shootout in finals. He'll be okay.

He's never won a Copa America, though. He's shite.
