It's left Rome.

That's quite the detour, why did it go to Rome?

To show off the World Cup to the Pope, and Emi had to go to confession after he "let himself, his country and his club down".

😂

Refuel.

But Rome isn't on the way from Qatar to Argentina.....there are at least 20 African countries it could have stopped at on the way. surely?

I have a high confidence when I next post on Emi Martinez thread he'll be the World Cup winner
Is it the final next Thursday?
The final was yesterday actually!
And I enjoyed every single minute.
Brilliant Performance By Martinez outside of his lewd antics and Tom foolery he's an excellent keeper. I had every faith he and Argentina would make World Champion.
If he stays long term I expect he will be captain of Villa sooner rather than later.

Back in Beunos Aries at 10pm tonight for the celebrations. Sorry if its already been mentioned previously but I wonder if we'll have him back for Boxing Day? 🤔
No your the first.
It's a good question. But court of contention.
Actually, I was the first by a fair margin when I mentioned that Olsen might start in goal on Boxing Day this was before the World Cup.
I warned people about it and advised them to be ready and opened discussions.

Also when does the thread for the pre-Liverpool game start? It's a week today, and I fully anticipated it to be up and active with discussion on this sort of issues and what we expect from the game.

Isn't it exciting that the season has returned, especially with El Maestro Emery in charge?
And makes things even more wonderful it's versus Liverpool without Gerrard as 'coach'
I usually attend the home match versus Liverpool but it's Boxing Day and that's not possible but very hopeful of a positive outcome.

“The Argentina keeper went to Rome to see the Pope
The Argentina keeper went to Rome to see the Pope
The Argentina keeper went to Rome to see the Pope
and the Pope said to our Emi
Stay at Villa and stop all shots
Stay at Villa and stop all shots
Stay at Villa and stop all shots
or I’ll shove that award up your arse”

…..with apologies to Blackwell, N.  ;D

Needs some work, I know

One of the worlds top 3 goalkeepers. Probably the worlds best penalty goalkeeper. Love that’s he’s a Villa player.

Needs to learn a bit of respect though.

Last time someone from Villa went to Rome it was in a Ford Mondeo, and he came back with Roberto di Matteo. Now it's in a jet and coming back with a Word Cup winner's medal. How times change.

Great achievement by a very good keeper. Whilst I am so proud of him I am not flexing my muscles out in each and every direction knowing he will probably be off in the summer.
