And there will be some bans if you don't all stop squabbling.

I made it clear they were my assumptions and that they weren't guarantees

they're still assumptions, as are Chris', he's made assumptions based on what we've heard from Martinez directly in variuos interviews, you've made assumptions on what other players have done and rumours. I'm not saying either of you are right or wrong but calling him out on making assumptions is, at best, hypocritical given the post you made to start the conversation.

For what it's worth selling him doesn't make sense at all unless:
He becomes the most expensive keeper of all time.
He pushes for a move and forces our hand (which would be hard to do and pretty unlikely - Given he's contracted until 2027).
He has a clause that takes it out of our hands.

Even if one of those is true he won't be going anywhere before we have a replacement because leaving ourselves with Olsen and a semi-fit Steer as the options would throw us completely off course for where we're clearly aiming with Emery.

I am not going off on one. You have made statements that only someone close to the player could make.
Then you have had a complete sense of humour failure and been abusive.
You are very sad.

Which do you disagree with -
1. He's fiercely competitive and wants to win
2. he's loyal
3. he likes it at Villa
4. he knows he'll be undisputed No1 for the forseeable future

Which of those comments would require me to know the player personally?

I take it I'll never see a post again from you speculating on anything anyone may think or may do unless ytou know them personally?  I hope not.

Also, where would he go? With only one or two exceptions, the sort of club that would be spending £80m on a goalkeeper are pretty set with a 25-32 year old keeper that they seem pretty happy with.

Bayern are the only team that I reckon really need a new one in the next couple of years, and they don't strike me as the sort of team to throw that sort of money at a keeper.

I very nearly put something in about that as well but I figured it'd be covered by the first point in that the teams that can afford him probably don't need him right now.

We are blessed to have one of the top keepers in the world who actually appreciates the journey to get to where he is. And he credits us as a massive part of it. I love that about him. Not all players will be like that. It’s a business so we get it. But he’s our keeper and captain. And will play a massive part on our rise under Emery.

Oh he’s a bit mad also. But we all know that.

He is a very good keeper.

Is it only me that gets annoyed with the shithousing and time-wasting though? It pisses me off when other teams do it, and I don't like Villa stooping to it either.

Agree he shouldn't and won't be sold though.

His shithousing is something that sets him apart, it's an important part of the game unfortunately.

We could coach another keeper to do a bit of it.

We need to spend a lot of money on several new  players. Selling him would be good for AVFC.

No, it really wouldn't, it's very rare for teams to sell a key player of that sort of ability and improve (regardless of how much money comes in), it also cements the idea that good players leave us as soon as they can. We've done fantastic work (with Luiz) of showing that we won't be fucked with and we can get players who are wanted elsewhere to commit to us, letting Martinez go anytime soon destroys that.

No, we've been far too nice for most of the time I've supported us. Not many nice teams win things, sadly. If his shithousing is the difference between us winning one-nil and conceding a late equaliser, I will take it every time.

Will I still moan like fuck when other teams do it against us? Of course. 🙂

I wished we'd been better at shithouseing when Wolves came back to beat us 3-2, that's for sure.

Nobody would care what he does if they beat us. They'll only moan when we win. Long may he be moaned about.

Christ on a bike, this is a heated one!

No need to sell him (hopefully gone are the days we are that club selling the family silver)
He is like Bosnich the 2nd
I like his attitude
He loves the Villa
He is going nowhere and we dont need to sell him.

There will be rumours aplenty about him wanting to leave but he hasnt won the world cup yet but what a great thing for him if he does win it! Good luck Emi!
