Bosnich's kicking was very poor if I remember rightly.  Martinez is about the best I've seen.

To be fair to Bosnich, they brought the back pass rule out when he was well into his career. He did have a foot like a 50p piece though.

That's a very good point and I had forgotten about that.  Also, Bosnich tried to end Klinsmann, which was quite funny at the time.

And then when he was getting a bit of stick about it the following year, did a Nazi salute and goosestep back at them.

Fucking hell, I'd completely forgotten about that.  Can you IMAGINE if that was something that happened today??

Bozzie spent his entire career up to the 1994 League Cup Final pretending not to be able to kick....and then launched that clearance with Man Utd defending the halfway line.

I notice the verb "to end...someone" has crept into modern usage. Still think Saranyu was the trailblazer with "to funeral...the Toon".

Anyway Bozzie was still young in 1991 when the rule came in, ample time for him to sort his feet out. Ian Walker did it with aplomb albeit with more annoying hair.

The same Ian Walker that was confronted by an angry Leicester fan for being shit when we gubbed them 5-0 at the crisp dome?

Walker was shit

Bosnich and Martinez cannot be separated on the basis of their levels of shithousery alone.  Bosnich for his fantastic taunting of the Railway end when he saved that penalty against the noses.  Martinez for his penalty and various other antics.

Martinez is the best goalkeeper we've ever had.

I'm with Ads. In my time supporting the Villa (1988), I don't think we've had a better keeper than Emi.

Yea im here too. Ive spent my life supporting Villa being a nervous wreck at opposition corners, Emi just plucks them out of the sky. Love him and im still gushing about him daring Ronaldo to take that penalty at Old Trafford. In my time its Emi, followed by Bosnich then Spink

The only ones potentially better/as good in my book are Rimmer and Bosnich.  Emi still has time to prove better than them both, he's f*cking ace!!

Bloody Dwight Yorke leaving gave me ptsd as a youngun, and Joe added to it this year. It’s reached the point where I can’t fully appreciate Emi for fear of losing him. Football is stupid.

Martinez is the best goalkeeper we've ever had.

The only thing in doubt if his length of service.  Three or four more years and I don’t think it would even be a debate.

Thinking about it Emi’s dance in front of the Stretford End, the hip thrust at the Copa America and his celebration in front of the Witton end when he made that save at home to Chelsea are starting to win me over.
