Face it Risso you made an error .
At least hold your hands up and acknowledge that penalties are generally scored

Nothing poor with Martinez record.

You haven't corrected anything. 'Context' would be to include how many penalties various keepers have faced in that time. 1 save from 11 penalties before yesterday isn't a great record at all.

Not sure where you are getting 1-11 for us before yesterday. He has faced 18 and saved three. And his last save for us was back in 2022 and he had faced 7 since then including yesterdays. [https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/emiliano-martinez/elfmeterstatistik/spieler/111873]These stats on transfermkt[/url] doesn't include penalty shoot-outs (as you are also ignoring those), or ones where the player missed because of the mind games from Emi, example being the Fernandez one at Manure.

No I didn't. Before yesterday, he'd saved one of his last 11 penalties in the league.

Are you including the Fernandes miss as one that he failed to save?

Haven't checked, just going off Transfermarkt stats. He can have that one as well if they've not counted it as a save, as he very clearly did get to Fernandes that day.

Although that was before the last save in the very specific circumstances that Risso is using to state Emi is shit at penalties. That match was in Sept 2021 and he then saved in Oct 2021 against Aubameyang. Risso is taking the ones after that save. One in eleven sounds bad, four in 15 is alot better. Weird what stats to choose isn't it.

Tbf to Risso he was slagging off his save record in the match thread before it was taken, and I admire that level of reverse-jinxing.

Well if you're going off totals it's 4 in 21. But anyway, I don't think his record is great at them for us, no. I don't know if he's any better or worse than other top flight keepers, but I reckon most strikers expect to score whoever the keeper is. Anyway, I'm not going to be corrected by the Team Footy AI divs, it's not that long ago they were saying that they thought that Emi wasn't as good as Olsen.

4 in 19 for us in the league as two of them were for Arse. Pickford who is also currently supposed to be a good penalty stopper is 6 in 30 at Everton (6 in 34 all time). So one in five is stopped is about the best ratio which tallies when you look at the most in Prem history which is Fabianski with 14 in 64.

Yes and clearly explained context to you. Do I need to repeat?
Since debuting for Aston Villa in September 2020, Emiliano Martinez has saved four Premier League penalties with only Lukasz Fabianski , 5, saving more in this time!

So that shows in comparison to other gks he's very good at saving penalties actually !

It’s not that simplistic. There are lots of other factors to take into account. Ie, how many penalties were missed and like the ridiculous expected goals stat is there a lesser statistic that shows expected pens against?

You wouldn’t need any of that though to conclude that Martinez is the best there is.
