An incredible performance last night, along with McGinn, set the tome, harass, battle, never let them rest, but with bags of skill as well. Just brilliant.

I'm still flabbergasted that we didn't get a penalty when he sustained his head injury. Given the direction the ball was moving and the direction in which the Forest player was moving, and the timing of it all, the collision was nothing other than a head butt on Watkins.
I 100% agree - it was a clear pen.

We really don’t favour well in winning penalties do we?

Tuchel was there and would have been very impressed last night. I think he'll be in the squad

Tuchel is a mug if he does not take him to the WC

How could he even consider Blues like Solanki or Clair Baldings love child over this guy

He terrorised them all night with endless running and movement

He's responded tremendously in the last few weeks, even came out of the Spurs game with credit. Last night he was frightening, monstrous, and celebrating with the bandage was instant Villa lore.

He's definitely going. He's the in form centre forward and he's been there and done it in a major international tournament.

Just immense. Arguably his best ever game even though he "only" scored one whereas he has had braces and hat-tricks in the past. Their defenders are all gigantic Hammer Horror brutes and he just bullied them. All. Fucking. Game. If England don't pick him, they're mental.

Back to his absolute best last night.  So pleased for him (and us!).

He'll be picked - left out last time as Tuchel wanted to see other non Kane options. There are no other non Kane options. Solanke and DCL are nowhere near as good overall and far too injury prone. He doesn't fancy Welbeck

Yeah, I've said elsewhere, for me that was his best ever game in a Villa shirt. The complete performance on so many levels.

I said at the time of the last squad when he wasn't included that whichever of Watkins / Solanke / Calvert-Lewin finished the season strongest would probably be the one player to go.

I'd still say that's the case and unless something weird happens in the next two weeks, that's definitely Watkins.

Reminded me of his performance against Juve, strong, brave and determined.

His movement for his goal deserves a mention, he was well out wide and passed to Bendy and a few seconds later was in the middle to finish the move.

It was the complete centre forward’s display, he was incredible.
