I'm not sure why Liam Delap would be considered after this season.

Because he's eligible for England and plays at a high level as a striker? And he hasn't proved himself to be woefully out of form.

That’s an interesting take - what has he proven then?

Not in the England squad, Calvert-Lewin in instead.

Hopefully that gives him a bit of a kick up the arse for the next couple of months.
I do not think it’s down to motivation.

Really? He always looks motivated but has clearly been lacking confidence during this run.
Sorry, I think it is a physical problem, either the “cyst” or he has gone.

Based on the last 6 months it's DCL and Solanke. Which is shite backup to Kane.

Given that Kane has already scored fifty goals this season, feels much more of a future problem than a current one. And, most likely, someone else will have come through by the time Kane starts to fade.

Yeah, I'm pretty confused, he has 2 goals in all competitions and barely ever starts for Chelsea.

Feels like a long time ago that Kane was definitely too old and slow and shouldn't even be in the England team anymore.

It'll be a miracle if Solanke or DCL stay fit for the rest of the season.

I hope it motivates Ollie to end the year strongly and force his way back into the squad. He won’t want this to pass him by. The likes of Wellbeck, DCL and Solanke should never be ahead of Ollie but it’s on him to prove that now.

It's not a future problem if Kane gets injured or suspended though. Or England are chasing a game.

There isn't a team that doesn't have a major drop-off in at least one position. And even if they do have to go without him, they'll still have a better striker than at least half the teams at the tournament have, with arguably the best choice of attacking midfielders in the world just behind them.

With Kane England have a shot at winning it, without him they'd be QF at best imo. The gulf between Kane and the next player is so big even America wouldn't invade it.

Doesn't look to be anyone on the radar at all.

When Shearer was in his pomp we had Owen, and you knew he'd be a star.

Same for Rooney when Owen was at his peak.

Then Kane turned up when Rooney started to decline.

We don't have anyone like that knocking at the door.

Obviously someone could come out of nowhere but it doesn't look like it.

Liam Delap is probably the next best thing for England.

We do have about 50 midfielders and wingers though.

With maybe a brief gap between the decline of Greaves and the rise of Keegan, England have had at least one world class forward pretty much non-stop since World War Two. Someone will turn up.

Quite possibly true. You can say the same about loads of teams, though. France wouldn't have won the 1998 World Cup without Zidane, Brazil wouldn't have won in 2002 if Ronaldo got injured, Scotland might not win it this year if anything happens to McGinn or McTominay. Luck is always going to play a part in winning competitions, especially in international football where you can't just buy a million players.

Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker is arguably more effective than any of the out of form second strikers.

He's not exactly been effective there for Newcastle.
