The commentators during the game on Polish tv couldn't get enough of Cash yesterday and kept talking about how he could play for Poland. He's applied for a passport presumably, so it could be happening.

At the risk of being controversial, I think he could be our best ever Polish right back. Even better than Kubicki.

I thought he was magnificent yesterday. Ability wise, I don't think there's much between him and Guilbert, but it's his attitude, his commitment and aggression that makes the difference, and that's not knocking Guilbert, it's just that Cash has got it in spades. Without being in an over the top, dirty bastard way as well.

Plus he's got a throw that would make Dave Challinor blush.

Was so pleased for him to get his goal on Saturday.  No one deserves a goal more tbh.  Been consistently brilliant for us since signing.  You could see how much the goal meant to him as well.  You love to see it.

I don’t think I’ve seen a player as delighted to score a goal as that for a long, long time. He went properly mental.

Not since Hendrie at Highbury or Ketsbaia at the, er, advertising hoardings.

Scored his first goal then is picked for Garth's team of the week. Living the dream!

Gary Gardner when he scored against SHA.

Savo at Blackburn, ran the length of the pitch and was still celebrating when they kicked off!

Matty Cash's Dad has been interviewed on a Polish footy website. Some quotes:

'We are in the process of collecting the necessary paperwork to get Matty Polish citizenship. We started this process a few months ago, it should be completed soon.'

'Matty would like to prove himself at international level. He is already playing his second season in the Premier League, and playing for the national team would be another step forward. So, if the Polish federation expresses an interest, my son would open to such a solution'

'I can't say much about contacts with the Polish federation. As long as my son doesn't have a Polish passport, the other side can't do anything'

It seems that Cash's grandparents fled Poland during the war and moved to the UK where they settled. His Mum was born in England and speaks fluent Polish. His Dad says that our Matty is proud of his Polish roots, although judging by the the idiots posting below the article that would never be enough for some (guess that's the Internet for you).

Good luck to him. Southgate will pick a myriad of Scab 6 right backs before he gets a look in, might as well try his luck elsewhere, and Poland is a proper footballing nation so decent chance of playing in tournaments.

I agree. Compared to the likes of Jenas and Murphy though, it's like listening to a football visionary.

Murphy agreed. Jenas is bland but not too bad. Crooks is a complete loon, some of the shit he writes each week in his team of the week run down makes me think he's not really watched the games. Which would be scandalous
