He worked with Richard O’Kelly at the Olbyun many moons ago. I didn’t have too much contact with him but he seemed a decent bloke and fairly switched on. The Youth Team lads seemed to like him. He was universally known as ‘ Shakey ‘ .  Long time ago though

Were Shakespeare and O'Kelly in the Walsall team that had that League Cup run in 1984?

Just found it.

Aren't the local rag regurgitating that interview. Amazes me how much they "report" that people have said on social media, or in interviews elsewhere etc.

Excellent appointment. Everyone knows Craig from his Leicester days and he's generally very highly regarded in the game. Was generally the tactics behind the Leicester title win although he didn't quite have enough to pull off being a number one there.

Not sure if it's been said already but he's based in Lichfield aswell so ten minute commute.

I assume John Terry is being nudged out of the door with all this so expect him to take a managerial job at some point.

Surprised a few people are saying the Watford stint was a failure. They took a side that was bottom on 9 points up to 17th when they left. You could argue they did a decent job.

The rumour was the board wanted to give him the final two games instead of Hayden Mullins but he felt he couldn't take over from Pearson in those circumstances which is admirable enough.

I'm pretty sure he is/was a fan of Sandwell Town. Went to Perry Beeches Senior school with two people I know really well.

He said on a Q&A with the Watford official site he was a Villa fan growing up just before they sacked him. I only know this because a mate of mine and I were saying about 2 weeks ago that he would be a good replacement for Terry, and when I googled him i stumbled over the interview.

Have you got a link please? One of the brothers I know that went to school with him has just confirmed he supported Sandwell Town.

Didn't he work there about a decade ago? I suspect it was a bit Rowett to get people onside.

Do many teams have three assistant coaches?

No idea.  But as long as the coaches’ message is joined up I think the more the better.

I think we used to have 4 in the Lambert years. GK, defence, midfield and attack

Didn't Shakespeare take over Leicester when Ranieri was sacked and take them to the Quarter finals of the Champions League? I think BFR signed Shakespeare from Walsall when he took over at Sheffield Wednesday.

I hope bringing Shaky in is a serious move and he is going to play a pivotal role at the club rather than just a cosmetic role.

I hope it isn't just lipstick, powder and paint.

Ha ha. Brilliant. How long was the attacking coach furloughed for?

If it is, he’ll soon be shown the green door.

Getting a Shakin Stevens punathon going will not be easy in This Ole House.
