I’d keep Elmo. Always liked him. Nice review of the season.

We can complain but we did get to a cup final and a villa player lifting a cup of something I’ll never get bored of seeing (Twice before you dont ask)

First of all, I thought it was a link from SHA! Good read anyway.

I take issue with 'the virus saved us'.

Every other team had the same break, but they obviously didn't use it as well our gaffer.

So it did save us then, Smith has pretty well said as much himself.

It definitely came at the right time. We looked all over the place defensively.

I thought it was going to help us with SJM coming back from injury, who did slowly get better as the games went by but it was the Douglas luiz one for me , how he came back like another player. So it
definitely helped us with Dougie Luiz and the defence seem to get better .

Yep, and nothing wrong with that at all. We were all over the shop defensively, and so using the time off to work on that was perfectly sensible.  After the nightmare away at Leicester, I think if the season had continued we'd have almost certainly gone down and Smith would have been sacked.

Pre lockdown we were consistently inconsistent & headed for the drop no doubt.

Post lockdown we were less inconsistent, our frailties were still there, some were plugged others remain.

I’ll give the coaching staff a lot of credit for how they used the break. It was clear that if we just carried on as before we’d be finished. So whether it started with Dean Smith, whether it meant John Terry had more say, it matters not. What it has proved is that it works and it is how we need to start next season too. Hopefully with better forwards and wingers so we can win games more convincingly and not put the entire onus on Jack bailing us out.

No 'it' didn't, the way we used it did.
