SF so far is pretty tedious no matter how the commentators try to dress it up. They all seem to cancel each other out. No one like our Jack who seems to be able to beat a man ( or several) and create some space. All one touch pass and move so far with nil end product. Is it me or is footy just boring these days save as the odd game?

It was a great start to the season with goals flying in all over the place but we seem to have gone back to normality.

It's the antithesis of why I like football. There is no colour, no passion. It's technically proficient with few errors but that makes it even worse. The pace is pedestrian, lacking a rhythm or ebb and flow, and is reminiscent of a training match.

Of course there is the caveat of an empty stadium but St James Park was empty at lunchtime...

All of this is why I can't accept the idea that "it doesn't matter how you win", winning trophies is great but there needs to be some excitement to it as well, if we take the lead I like to think the team will try for more than just holding on and trying to scrape by with the win. Sometimes you need to dig in but for too many managers it's the norm not the exception.

2nd half can only be better, well hopefully.

Micah Richards has just said he would like to see a little bit more energy in this game. Thanks Micah but can you remind yourself what that is?

For once Werner does something useful to assist Ziyech as Chelsea take the lead.

Both teams seem to be veering from genius to calamity and back again. It is fun to watch.

Sterling has been awful tonight - Pep's not been picking him much recently. Can see why now.

We scored the last goal when they came to Villa Park last season, so the momentum is definitely with us!

Seems a stupid thing to say considering where City are but imagine how good they’d be with a good centre forward....Jesus would struggle to get 10 goals a season in a regular team

He’ll no doubt score now :-)
