The "arms" were not. However they used to take the "shoulder" into the decision but as it is very subjective on which point it would have been called handball it might have been canned. However I think that is unfair that refs can change the interpretation of the rules whilst a season is still being played. If the rules are shit, they shouldn't stick with it rather then review. After all how can the adage of "it evens out in the end" be applied if all your bad decisions are in the first half and all the decisions where it would have helped would have been in the second.
Yeah that's my main point really. Leeds had a goal disallowed when Bamford pointed to where he wanted the ball to be played and that was adjudged to be offside. It appears that they're changing the interpretation of the rules mid season due to VAR dropping such clangers. I can't believe that the clubs have allowed them to change the rules half way through a season without kicking up a shitstorm. It's bloody ridiculous.

The trouble is the rules haven't changed, it is just the interpretation of them which they never admit. And it has happened time and time again. They decided to implement a "respect" campaign where swearing and surrounding the ref would not be tolerated. Think that lasted all of 6 weeks into the one season until people complained about the refs "spoiling" things by sending off players from the big teams it suddenly disappeared.

They have admitted it. They announced the other week that they were going to use the end of a short sleeve shirt as the guidelines for offside. More than a quarter of the way through the bloody season.

Maddison is a great player and one of the many Talented attacking midfielders England have at their disposal along with Grealish, Foden, Mount, Barkley et al.  Southgate should be working on combinations of them to tear teams apart with their quick passing, control, movement and finishing.  Throw Kane into the mix and there is potential for cricket scores.  But Southgate will no doubt continue to rely on the "solid platform"  of Rice/Dyer/Henderson plus one other, and the pace of Sterling, Sancho and Rashford, both of which are unnecessary and ineffective against teams who defend deep.

I rate Maddison but if we could bring any Leicester player to Villa I would choose Tielemans.

Same here, he is brilliant

That was announced last April and implemented. Bamford was offside because when he pointed, the end of his sleeve was ahead of the defenders legal body parts (they drew the line down from his sleeve). But as with the toes being offside, it is all very subjective and not pixel perfect.

Doubt it will happen, but a 4-2-3-1 with a three behind Kane of Grealish, Maddison and one of Sterling, Foden, Sancho or Rashford would be worth looking at.

I would just simplify it and make it about the feet.  Draw a line at the back foot of the last defender (a wide enough line to incorporate any margin for error) and if any part of an attacker's foot is over that line then it is offside.

I was hoping that we would have the first player having a goal ruled out because of had a large member. Dion must be happy VAR wasn't around when he was playing.

Cash Mings Konsa Chilwell
Rice
Grealish Maddison Mount
Rashford Kane

Just need a keeper.

Harsh on Barkley, Targett and Watkins. Heaton will be fine in goal.

Chilwell is a cracking player though, being horribly wasted at Chelsea.

Your right he is a cracking player

Although he did save his worldly game for us same as Bamford and Ward Prowse

all three won't play as well as they did against us again for the rest of the season

Him and Alexander-Arnold are absolutely ideal for a formation with attacking full-backs.  Could see him linking up really well with Grealish down the left hand side for England.

Knowing Gareth Southgate though, an out of position Trippier will end up at left back.
