Thatís right but instead of adapting VAR to meet the needs of the game, they are changing the laws of the game to accommodate VAR.

Both terrible ideas, impossible to implement without bollocksing everything up and those that called for it in the first place amongst the most vocal critics.

I don't see how VAR can be blamed for this, nor the on-field officials.  The rule tells them that if the arm is away from the body and it makes contact with the ball it's a pen.  All they did was apply the rule as instructed. The rule is a pile of shit.

The only improvement to VAR has been the referees finally being less stubborn regarding looking at the monitor. They still often get it wrong in my opinion but I do prefer it when they go and have a look at least.

It is a classic case it not being bust so not needing to be fixed.  Twatmeister Souness defending the indefensible on the grounds that VAR creates more goals is the corruption of the game to basketball being played by the Harlem Globetrotters.  Fuck the game let's have some shobiz.

I was both in favour of it and a vocal critic - but not of VAR itself, just the way it was being used last season.  I think it's been working quite well this season since the refs have started to use the pitch side monitor, and mostly had the humility to overturn their own errors.  I still think hey should bin it for borderline offside but the handball fiasco is about bad rule making, not poor use of VAR.

Refs weren't being stubborn, as I understand it Mike Reilly had decreed that they would not use the monitors because he thought it would delay he game too much.  The massive twunt.
