It's an interesting read.  Obviously knowing who it is would put it into better context.  Imagine being chinned by a nurse.

It's got to be a Scouser. Don't hear anyone else call it ''Lecky''.

I've heard it used loads of times in the Midlands for a good 25+ years.

I've heard it used, too. Never associated it with Merseyside.

I thought you had taken a break
time for another one
I've been reflecting on my response here: it was wrong, and I apologise to footy for being judgemental.

I don't have to imagine it, I've come close a time or two!

Well, I found that interesting. Thanks for posting.

I've never heard of Johnny Nicholson but it's perfectly understandable that the player should want to remain anonymous. The media would absolutely hound him, waiting for his first slip so they would have their hypocrite story.

My guess?  I don't know the bloke, but some of what was said there sounds like Troy Deeney.
A couple of brief post-match interviews this season gave me the impression that he views football as his (very well paid) day job, chock-full of hyperbole, and now he's off home to the real world with his family.

Deeney was the first to come to mind. Having been inside, he's one of the few whose perspective of life is such that he may not think much of giving all his wages away these days.

Apparently they're going to negotiate cuts on a club by club basis.

That sounds a fairly good way of pissing everyone off!

Good interesting and thought provoking read. Yeah I thought Deeney as well. I agree, why not skip the post if you don't like the poster instead of giving him stick?

Furloughing lower paid staff at the clubs if they are not going to top up to 100 percent is a disgrace really.  Unless you are going to furlough all of the staff.  Basically in normal industry furloughing is done when you aren't manufacturing anymore - footballers aren't playing so how are they different?
