Why is Reina in the poll? Didn’t he go back to Juve? I’d be very happy if we pushed the boat out for Martinez. Seems like a lot, but we’ve now signed Watkins and you can’t fk about with keepers. I’d have been reasonably happy with Steer or Nyland starting until Heaton gets fit, but if we’re looking to get Martinez, get it done. Long term prospect.

Look at the date the thread was started.

I'll be happy if we get Martinez. We've seen the difference a top keeper can make and he seems pretty damn good to me.

To have him and Heaton as our two keepers would give us a really solid look and we'd have no need to worry.

If Heaton has his eyes on the Euro's next year then he will be mightily pissed off that a new keeper who wants regular football is coming in.

I would also be happy with Martinez he's a good keeper.

I think its like everywhere else if there's an opportunity out there to go and get better you take it.
I wouldn't have prioritized the right back spot for example.
Yeah,  because we can only pursue one player at a time
Maybe he means he wouldn't have spent £16m on a right back?  Neither would I.  I'm happy with Cash, but would have been OK with Guillbert and Elmo with the money spent elsewhere.

Then he simply has to show and prove he is our number one choice.

Or move on of course.

Been struggling to get my head around the keeper move until I saw this:

Sums it up perfectly. That we had three keepers in the bottom third of that list is pretty bad going isn't it?

Get rid of the worst of the 28 (having already got rid of one of the others) and bring in the best is a good plan.

There's a lot more to goal-keeping than just stopping shots. And if a goalkeeper is behind a good defence he will probably only have a few easy long range shots to deal with in a game.

I appreciate that. Arsenal defence is a notorious bombscare though.

Their improvement under Arteta seemed to coincide with Martinez playing.

He gave Keinan a free pass to break his duck, he must be a Villa fan.
