Shit away fans
« on: January 29, 2020, 12:27:24 PM »
Who have struck you as been awful in recent years?

Leicester's fans last night were amongst the worst I've ever seen at our place. I was in B6 (stand area not postcode) (actually both, strictly speaking) so very close to them and they were boisterous until we scored the first, then went deathly quiet until they equalised. There was zero getting behind their team.

They also seem to specialise in ancient songs / chants. I can't believe they do that "ooooooh you're shit hahaha" goalkeeper thing, how cringey. They also deserve the death sentence for those fucking flippy flappy things.

They're not the worst I've ever seen but not far off.

Worst ever were the Derby fans at Wembley. Clearly they'd sold 5 tickets per fan and they'd all brought their aunts and uncles with them, because they looked like about 30,000 of them were attending a match for the first time.

Shout out too for Everton, whose fans are the absolute worst year after year.

Leicester fans unveiling a banner with 'we are staying up' after last night's game was a little odd. They realise we're 16th not 20th, right?

Everton are the most high-pitched. Liverpool and Man U make no noise at home but will, at least, make a fair racket at Villa Park. Helped by the fact we always let them win, obviously. Arsenal are the shittest as they make no noise home OR away.

Also among the worst are Leicester, Boro, Bolton or any other club that need a drum to generate "atmosphere".

Can't really think of too many who have impressed in recent years. Maybe Wednesday away in our first game down. They kept singing all game despite it being tediously dull for the first 89 minutes. Norwich maybe? They always travel in good numbers despite being in Holland. Don't think Derby were that bad, they made more noise than Fulham despite being second best for most of the game. They also get kudos for sticking by their team regardless of division, like we did. Unlike, say, Small Heath, Albion, Coventry and Leicester "supporters" who vanished off the face of the Earth when they exited the Premier League.

I think that's their little in house joke, I've heard them sing that a few times earlier in the season.

I think Leicester fans suffer from not knowing how to behave like a big club. The clappy cardboard things for instance...to generate an atmosphere?  I really don't mind Leicester though, I can't really hate them.

I thought Leeds were pretty noisy during *that* 3-2 defeat before Christmas.

I've heard our fans at away games do the goalkeeper thingy too.

But we're allowed to do what we like.

Their little routine of counting themselves into each chorus of Hey Jude was particularly shit, even for their shit standards.  Two, three, four naaaaaaa.....

I was staggered how many left after we got the second. You knew that there would be a fair chunk of time added on given our celebrations so they still had a chance.

And for a club doing so well their lack of vocal support was shocking, Liverpool made more noise for their kids.

About 20 of them were having an argument/scuffle with police and stewards at full time at the front of the North Stand when we had thousands on the pitch.

I blame Phil Dowd for that.
