Didnít Cardiff announce the signing and unveil him as a player, with pictures of him holding the shirt? If so, then they should pay up IMO. Trying to wriggle out of paying reflects really badly on Cardiff.

It does reflect badly on Cardiff but if you morally owed me a lot of money but didn't actually legally owe me a lot of money would you pay me or try to avoid paying me?

Good question.  In this case I think a fair way of looking at it would be, "if there was a match the day after he died, would he legally have been able to turn out for Cardiff?"

I'm pretty sure there's a rule against playing deceased players. Though he would still have been quicker than Jedinak.

The other factor in this is that if Cardiff are a championship club now and could stay one for a while.

We all know how fun FFP is, and with their smaller gates, it's an even bigger hit to take.

I see totally Dave W's argument, but is making that payment worth them getting into financial strife if they don't legally need to?  Ultimately they didn't get the player who could have made a difference for them.  Forking out £10-15 million when they don't need to is a double whammy.

Well maybe they should have paid up when they were still in the top flight, the amoral, corpse-fleecing wankers.

Cardiff facing a 3 transfer window ban on new players if they fail to pay Nantes the 6 million Euro 1st payment on Sala in the next 45 days.

Surely Cardiff have put some cash aside in anticipation of this outcome.

You would like to think so. Surely they are not that arrogant.

I never quite understand the dispute here. When he died, one of the clubs legally owned him, there shouldnít be any issue over it

Two months down the line and I haven't heard or seen any updates? Can Cardiff buy anyone in this January window as I haven't heard otherwise.

What were the fans responses?

"He was simply the best of stretching the shirt in the photo from the training ground"
"I was really impressed with how fast he completed the medical"
"I expected to see him hitting the ground flying.... just not hitting the sea"

They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Dont think may ubs arr going to want to do business with them after this.
