Thank you all for far far too many hours spent happily engaged/distracted/connected/befriended, what a ride even the last 12months have been...

Wishing you all very very well for the next year and decade, may our club show its class and build its way back to being the  powerhouse it should be.

Much love y’all. (And may little AV never know relegation 🙏)

Happy New Year.

Don’t celebrate until it’s been verified by VAR.

Happy New Year all, may this shithouse of a decade forever be remembered as one that led to a bounteous time of wonder and success for the Villa.

I'm nearly eight hours into the new year and we haven't signed anyone yet so Boooooo.
Happy new year Robbo! You’re an hour ahead of me, so let me know if you hear of any signings.

Happy New Year! Just back from our friends’ house where Sweet Caroline got at least three airings on the karaoke.

And, from 10 pm, Happy Bulgarian New Year!

They had a rather good band playing in Sofia’s public square this year, to a very excited crowd. It was a bunch of performers who dated from the 60’s and 70’s, who were influenced by the Beatles but who had been tragically and ruthlessly kept down by the regime, at the time.

Tonight’s band featured:

     * a somewhat desiccated boomer on lead vocals and guitar who had spent years as a buddhist monk in Nepal but who had escaped just in time to be influenced by Crosby Stills and Nash,

      * a blues man on acoustic bass who totally rocked whenever the songs went into a 12 bar, reminding me of Michael J Fox ‘under the sea’

      * an energetic drummer wearing more clothes than everybody else

      * and a younger guy on folky guitar who knew all the words and looked vaguely worried whenever a Legend joined in or went off on one.

It was lovely to listen to and even more entertaining to watch.

Well done and thank you, Bulgaria. You know how to hold a New Year Party!

Mm, yeah. Went on a skiing trip there in 1986 when I was 13. Got a bad dose of the trots and was traumatised to have to ‘let it go’ in a doorless trap next to an old toothless hag selling bog paper by the individual sheet! Did a week’s spending money in about half an hour.

Things sound like they may have moved on a bit thankfully since then..

Happy new year Louzie 🍾🍾

A happy and healthy new year to all.

At least it's got off to a decent start!
