Three points against Brighton and I think we'll be well set.  Not to be complacent, but there's clearly not much between any of the teams outside the top 2.  We've got  good defence that's only going to improve, and we're creating a fair few chances.  We really do have to cut out the silly mistakes at the back though, that's got to be our immediate priority.

Man City (A)
Liverpool (H)
Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)

We have to win the first and last and hope for the best in the middle, I would say.  Also a league cup game with Wolves in between the City/Liverpool games.

I can see 8 points from that lot, which would be decent.  Beat Brighton and Newcastle, draw at home to Liverpool and away to the Dingles, loss at City.

I’d ecstatic with that return, I’d also be surprised.

Me too. Feels like people are getting carried away after we beat a dead cert for relegation. If we get 6 from the next 5 I’ll be very happy - that will be an improvement on the last 5 and these are much tougher fixtures.

A draw at home to Liverpool - I’ll have what your drinking - they are possibly the best team in world football right now and are in a very different league than us. Let’s just take it one step at a time

While I agree some people are getting excited, the reality is that we need to aim for 6-8 points from our next 8 matches if we want to keep our heads above water.

The average points haul for relegated clubs in the last five seasons is 5.7 after eight games.  Five clubs were relegated having earned 8 points or more.

The relegated clubs averaged 7 points from their next eight games, giving an average points haul of 13 points after 16 games.  Three clubs were relegated with 14 points or more.

Using the basic method of assuming 38 points ( 1 point per game as an average) would be enough to stay up then we are smack on

After the next 5 (15 points) if we win the 2 games against Brighton / Newcastle and bugger all else then we would have a record of played 13 with 14 points returned so still on target

Anything from the other 3 ('The Mighty Reds YNWA' / Citeh / Dogheads) is a Bonus - the following 5 are just as tricky so we need to maintain momentum where we can

The dead cert for relegation you mention had juat last month beaten Man City, very much in a different league from them.

Not saying a draw against Liverpool is probable or ahould be expected, but we shouldn't go into any game with the attitude we have no chance of a positive result.

Everyone will point to the injury problems Norwich have, but as I understand it there were only 3 changes from the team that beat Man City, one of which was a first choice defender coming back into the side.

Regardless of that, even if you don’t see the match as being truly reflective of our first 11 versus theirs, it is a true reflection of our squad versus theirs.  They didn’t strengthen very much over the summer and are now struggling with that because while they do have a strong first team, they are struggling to cope with injuries.  We have a far stronger squad which will cope better over a long season.

Three of Norwich’s back four were first choice, I don’t think their keeper had much to do with the result as it’s not like he was dropping howlers.  It was pointed out in the summer that Norwich’s defence wasn’t great last season, they didn’t strengthen it, they’re going to concede a lot of goals over the course of the season.

We should certainly see this as evidence that we are in a much better state to survive this season than Norwich are.

I agree Dog T Norwich squad is very thin and why I think they will struggle as the season develops, 3 changes would make a pretty big difference as well.
