Great result and well deserved.

The pressing of the front three was impressive and sustainaned.

Can we do this against stronger sides? Only time will tell.

Norwich is a great away day, it’s just a shame it’s so awkward to get to. Their fans are generally a decent, friendly bunch too.

The whole team were on it from minute one to minute ninety today. MOTM for me was Marvelous, who was just superb. The final score actually flattered Norwich.

Special shout out to the bellend behind me who called for Wesley to be taken off as he’s shit, in the 8th minute! Otherwise, the support was brilliant.

Took us 4.5 hours to get there on the coach today. Thank god we won!

Standard journey time in the late ‘70’s but I never experienced such an emphatic victory.

We are better than our position and still improving. A very important win today.

More than the three points it will give a tremendous confidence boost to the squad the pressure is off Wesley for the present. For me the only downside was the defence in the first half they had really good chances that a better side would have put away.

Now THAT feels much better

Are you talking about

A. Todays result
B. A dump you have just taken
C. A w*nk you have just had

 ;)

Or all three within 90 mins. Just imagine that

Late to the party, but gotta love how 'having sex' was just nowhere in the list of options. Personalising the Realistic Expectations thread I see.

You know what they say, sex is ok but you can’t beat the real thing.

Excellent win. Only watched it on the iPad so really a camera perspective but we pressed well, always seemed to have the “spare man”, got the ball in quickly and took the chances well. Over all a pretty damn good performance.

My one niggle is that Mings mistake. No matter how well he plays generally, and he does play well, he seems very prone to that one error that costs. I think that he’s been at fault at Palace, Arse and Norwich for goals. I also think he was partly to blame for one last week (but that may be harsh). Hopefully as he plays more and more at this level he will cut that part of his decision making out - or we can be five up and not have to worry too much.

Only a niggle and didn’t spoil my total enjoyment of thumping a team we struggled against twice last year.

Crikey- just been to the newsagents and the front pages of the papers are a Villa fest! (Well a 'Prince George in Villa tee-shirt' fest to be accurate)

A couple of us watched the game yesterday with the Irish Lions over in Dublin. Massive shout out to the chap who runs it over there, it was great and they made us feel very welcome.

What a game to pick to watch though, we were great. I know they had players missing but still, five away from home is pretty impressive. No-one really had a bad game but the pick of the bunch for me was Nakamba. He really looks a bloody good player. I thought he might have dropped Big Wes but he's stuck with him and it was more like it yesterday. Let's just hope we can pick it up again after the break.

Well let's hope that the Villa sales and marketing team are on it. I've heard it said that pictures of royal children in "high street" fashion sees those items sell out overnight.  Instant money in the club's coffers and perhaps some new long-term fans to boot.  However, I somehow doubt that the I-want-it-right-now yummy mummy who is used to shopping on Kensington High Street will be content with "we should have some more stock in by Christmas..."

Can we now market ourselves as 'Aston Villa Football Club - By Royal Appointment'?

I noticed at half time when they were doing the bubble football (which was pretty funny) that they descrives one part of their ground as "the Snake Pit". Jesus.

Not a lot to say that hasn't been said. With the A14 closed it felt a bit odd to be going past Leeds just under an hour in, but it worked out quicker.

We looked at it from the off. McGinniesta and Grealish found so much room, the full backs pressed high and Wesley gained us the territory by bullying them.

Defensively only two blots for me. Mings not choosing the simple option when recycling it second half and running down a blind alley, instead of a 5 yard pass inside. And then goal of course. I thought Heaton was a little slow to react as he lost sight of the ball in the sun, which hung over all second half above the stand to the left and made it roasting down the front.

McGinn and El Ghazi could have scored first half with shots, the effort onto the bar, Wesley and his penalty. It could have been 8.

Nkamba is brilliant too.

I think Leicester under O'Leary was the last time we drummed somebody 5 away from home.

Brilliant. Well worth almost 10 hours in a car.

Credit Wesley for 2 goals (though Davis could have scored them and his penalty was weak af as was his attempt from penalty rebound and the free header straight at gk) as expected him to be up it today though 2nd half he wasn't exactly part of the attacks but was occupying the defence throughout .
Your snidey remarks are unnecessary, footy. From what I saw throughout the game, Wesley was excellent and his work rate was pretty much sustained throughout. He won a telling header in the first half which AEG should have converted on the rebound (rather than hitting the bar). He won two important headers in defence in the last 10 minutes. And – most important – the ball was played into his feet far more than has been the case in the season to date. He looked so much better as a result. Yes, his penalty was poor (as Risso said, you could see from the run-up what was going to happen) but the follow-up was blocked by the keeper and went for a corner.
We do not know what Davis could or would have done, even if he is – for me – a important cog in our future development.
Guilbert offered a lot going forward and el Ghazi could have done whatever he wanted but as defensive combo on that side villa were again very suspect and Norwich could have scored first half from poor defensive work from these two on the right side.
Agreed. In the first half, Norwich could have punished us down their left with 2 or 3 man overlaps regularly on Guilbert. A better side would have whipped us down that wing on the day.

It was certainly Grealish's best game so far, even if Naaaarrich were depleted of first-choice players. Apart from two wayward passes early on, he was excellent and I thought his decision-making particularly impressive.

I've read elsewhere it was nearly the same Norwich side that beat Man City, Not sure how true that is.
