We needed a turning point to propel our season, hopefully this was it. Although, conceding that sloppy, unnecessary goal at the death via another mistake was slightly annoying.

Most of the team raised their game and played well but Nakamba was outstanding, easily MOTM.

A win against Brighton now at Villa Park sets up nicely for what will be a very tough run of games.

I've said to colleagues this week that I wasn't worried about the way the season was going because we were a new group of players stepping up to a much higher level.  We were already scoring goals and when we pulled it all together we'd win matches comfortably or at least not let leads slip.   Today was the first step in that prophecy coming to fruition.

I enjoyed that, which makes a refreshing change.

They all played well. Nakamba was my MOTM. Looks totally at home at this level. Calm, strong, wins it, protects it, and finds a teammate with either foot. He's going to be vital for us, I think.

I've had a quick butcher's at Grealish's goal. He steps in and makes the interception/pass to set it in motion. Such a small thing, but it's the way he reacts to something that hasn't happened yet, but he can see that it will. You can not teach that. I'm going to enjoy watching him and us getting better.

Hats off to Smith with the man management of Wesley. Told him he’d not been up to scratch last game, sat him down and watched videos of him at his old club. Seems to have done the trick today.

Remember how much better they were than us last season? I know they had injuries but still, that was an absolute funeraling.

Very sloppy goal at the end aside, a very good performance and win.  We looked really dangerous going forward and I thought Jack had his best game of the season so far.  It looked today that it is really starting to come together and a decent spine of a side is starting to emerge.
