That is roughly the same as his last couple of seasons with us, a few Blast games and pretty much zero red ball - saying that I think when you signed him it was unlikely he’d go back to test cricket and was 50/50 that he’d still be in all one day squads by now.

Yep, the injury to Leach has had a big impact.

That's true, to be fair.  Even then though, he's only really going to play in the Blast and he misses part of that due to the IPL.

That East Midlands county who are incapable of developing cricketers have signed Tongue and Pennington next season

2 big wickets but we need more, frustrating that we're missing 4 key bowlers, Ali, Woakes, Briggs and Moeen make this a very different prospect.

Pressure is starting to get to them a bit here, still their game to lose but if we could get Lawrence...

I was at Edgbaston tonight and we were never really in it all match. Hain played well and he got out at a bad time, if he’d stuck around for another couple of overs then another twenty or so runs could have proved crucial but it wasn’t to be.

It was exciting at the end and I was beginning to think that the Bears were going to do it but Essex did enough. Our quarter final record in this competition is woeful, that’s something like 9 quarter final defeats in the last 13 years which is unacceptable and unwanted.

Yeah, was there earlier and agree with the above.  Never really pushed on when batting and Lawrence did enough with the bat to steer them home, although they almost blew it.

Was nowhere near our strongest side tonight, which is one of the problems with having such a fragmented season.

The starting XI had six players who were 25 or under which is very young in this competition. We had no answer to the Essex onslaught and it was only that they kept gifting us wickets that kept us in the game.

It was great entertainment for armchair fans. Mate of mine went and told me there was a bit of Villa/Blues “banter” going on in the Hollies?

Heard a few rude football style taunts at Essex players but didn't pick up any Villa/Blues dialogue. But as I had my 6 and 8 year old grandsons with me we kept well away from Hollies. We were there on a Friday night in June and the boys got drenched by falling beer glasses so there is no way they were having that again.

That run out of harmer was outrageous, the batter was clearly blocked by the bowler. A lot of chat last week on "the spirit of cricket" but this applies equally for all cricket, not just against the Aussies. Fortunately justice prevailed but where was the outrage?
By the way I am neither an Essex or Warwickshire fan.

I wasn't in the Hollies but could hear from the West Lower stand SOTV which got drowned out by HEITS
