Despite all the hyperbole, bright colours, questionable sponsorship and "unique" coverage it still felt and looked like a game of cricket with the rules slightly tweaked and from that point of view I'm not sure how many people it will convert who don't already watch the game.

Misanthropic old curmudgeons like me are catered for by the County Game and test cricket, young excitable bucks will watch 20/20 and to a lesser degree 50 over games. Where this new audience is, I don't know.

The aim of this, as it was with T20 before it, is to make the game shorter and more suitable for a casual TV audience. I'll hold off on judging it until we see viewing figures and the games really get going but as much as I don't like them messing with the format I can see the point of trying to create a version of the sport that fits into a neat 3 hour window.

I've heard good things about Garratt and it looks like we might need him to bowl well here. This game is very frustrating though because we seem to have had to just put out the first 11 players we could find that weren't injured or called up somewhere.

Maybe me but the Bears seem to use a massive amount of players in a season. Then a new crop for the next season. Appreciate several formats of the game in this day and age, but not a fan of this high turnover.

As mentioned a few posts back, they have 15 players missing for this game, the team they've put out is all the fit and available senior players and a bunch of kids from the 2nd team, this isn't intended, they're having a nightmare season.

Does “The Hundred” refer to the number of commentators?

I take it you were watching the Beeb coverage. Pretty standard commentary set up on Sky.
Just a shame that they’ve got the ever annoying DK in the pod

Just tuned in. Dreadful graphics, taking up far too much of the screen.

Not a cricket fan just caught the tail end of it but please tell me that 'Match Hero' is not their jazzed up name for MOTM.

In five formats' time, there will be something called "The Zero" where the crowd just sit in the stands looking at an empty cricket pitch and making a beer snake.

I swear that the players could walk off the pitch at Edgbaston and most of those in the Hollies Stand wouldn't notice
