Some bright spark on Small Heath forums reckoning all our arrests must be in Staffordshire. It amazes me the amount of people who cling to their myths. It really does.

They don't have anything else.....

There are statistics and there are lies.  I, an octogenarian, am in those numbers as an away fan who was arrested for refusing to throw away a full can of beer over a mile away from the Arsenal ground and so is my son a middle aged television executive for kicking a football on Wembley Way.

Why were you at the Arsenal ground last season?

Most would have been for what I consider non arrest able offences such as at shef wed last season getting pushed over the barrier when we scored our second, an argument with a steward quite commonplace away with football fans, waving them silly smoke bomb things. Yes you get the gist

Leeds and us must have had the largest average always in the country, with an extra 4 games to travel to so no wonder we're near the top.

Most of the arrests were at home.

Also remember that an increase in recording of an event doesn’t necessarily mean the frequency has increased.  If certain Forces decide to clamp down on certain behaviours more than others then minor incidents can inflate the total.

When we were all being marched by the Police from St Andrews across Brum I heard officers threaten fans with arrest if we attempted to leave the escort... hardly a serious incident.  When I was 17 I was arrested for assault because I grabbed a lad who had broken into my mate’s car and taken the handbrake off while it was parked on a hill.  Taken out of context it’s an arrest, but it’s hardly a social problem.

Not sure it's a football fan's place to decide how justified an arrest is.  An arrest is an arrest.  I've managed to make it through several decades in life without getting arrested and given the amount of paperwork involved in arresting someone I'm pretty sure almost all coppers, regardless of which force they work for, would much rather not arrest people than arrest them.

Our average attendance was 10th largest in the country last season.  All nine teams with larger attendances had fewer arrests.  I just don't see how this is anything other than an embarrassment for the club.  It doesn't matter how many people are in the ground - they've got to do something stupid to get arrested and there's no justification for it.

1 arrest per home game isn't something I feel particularly alarmed at or embarrassed by.

Every club has it's share of knobheads. If they weren,t getting arrested at football they'd be getting arrested elsewhere. Publishing league tables of arrests by club just gives these knobs the oxygen of publicity. These morons will wear it like a 'badge of honour'.

I don't know whether I'm just unlucky (or lead a sheltered life) but when I go to away games I'm pretty much always surrounded by Herberts.

I haven't seen this being discussed elsewhere.

Football hate crime at matches in England and Wales rose by 47% last season - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49752486

We're 3rd on the list - not good at all. Higher than Blues and would've been 2nd if Stoke hadn't drawn Port Vale in the EFL Trophy last season.

For all the (entirely justified) stick the FA are getting for their pitiful fine for the Blues fan who punched Grealish these stats (and the fact this isn't the first time we've been near the top of the list) suggest our club could do more to weed out the knobheads amongst our ranks.
I am very surprised to see us near the top of this table. I travelled home and away extensively and im glad to say saw zero evidence of racism. In fact i've noticed a much more mixed bag of races at our games which is great. I often take my mixed race nephew to games and my mates lad is also mixed race and i've heard nothing remotely racist from anyone. I'd be the first to put them down if i did. I've seen plenty of instances of bad behaviour but none of it had anything to do with the colour of peoples skin. Like i say i'm very surprised by this article.

The article says football hate crimes. What does that actually mean? Hating other clubs? Hating other races? Or just plain "disorder" offences? It's all a bit muddled.I travelled home and away last season many times and i'm glad to say i saw zero instances of racism and a marked rise in various ethnicities. It's noticable how much our lot like to get tanked up especially away and thats the main contributor to arrests for anti social behaviour. But on the whole our lot are good natured in my observation. This article doesn't make me proud or ashamed. It's a bit of fake news.

Well it is misleading, as the 'hate' crimes are supposed to be racism, homophobia, etc.  but the link to the arrests table is simply for all arrests.  There is nothing that suggests we are one of the worst clubs for hate crimes.
