Tommy Ball Murder
« on: November 11, 2018, 03:05:58 PM »
Just watched the video linked below and thought it would be good to share here. Tommy Ball, the only professional footballer in the Football league to be murdered.

I had hear the story before but wasn't aware of the full story.

Thanks for highlighting this sad story. I wasn't aware of it before. The timing of it makes it even more poignant.

Not sure if anyone's seen this.  95 years ago today.  RIP Tommy

I think Dave W wrote something on Tommy Ball's murder in H & V in the early 1990s but I would have to dig out the copy to check.

There was an ex Blues player who was killed in the shootings in Tunisia a few years ago.  Surely that counts as a footballer being murdered?

I'd imagine there's a few ex-players that have been murdered, which isn't the claim.

Very interesting read this afternoon.

Lived in Perry Barr area and seems was a dispute with a neighbour who just shot him.

Remains the only footballer to be actually playing at the time to be murdered and let's hope that stays that way.
