Getting Archer out on loan could have waited until nearer the end of the window, there were plenty of takers.
I agree the Ings deal was too good to turn down.
True, but it only looks that way with hindsight at the time 5-6 months with a team that are likely to be in or around the playoffs looked like the perfect opportunity for him (and I suspect it will turn out as exactly that).
I think you have to look at Archer and Duran together and move the Ings decision to one side.
Archer needs games and goals, he's settled at the club and we know what he's capable of so getting him that gametime on loan is what he needs.
Duran is new to the club, league and country he needs stability and help with all the stuff around being a player, keeping him at the club is what he needs.
As I see it we've done right by both of them both from a personal perspective and from a club stance and everyone involved will be better for this come the summer. Selling Ings has served to make things look different though and that's a shame, hopefully we get someone in and don't need to worry about that any more.
