I always felt Keinan struck the ball well and on target, he wasn't a wayward finisher, but he lacks the subtlety of a genuine finisher.

Cameron is a genuine finisher, he's got the full club set, chips, dinks, headers, snaphots on the half turn, lovingly caressed into the top corner, the whole thing. Christ, if Davis had that side to his game he'd be one of the best centre forwards in the world.

That's what XG tries to address ....

In the English Football League - Championship season 2021/22, Cameron Archer played 18 matches (plus 2 as a sub). he had 21 shots on target from a total of 35 shots and scored 7 goals (5.57 xG). - from infogol (which no doubt is wholly inaccurate!)

Make of it what you will.

Oh we can dream, but if he was that good heíd be lost to the oil slickers by now

Those percentage of shots on target look impressive compared to Premier forwards of greater renown. To me it shows that he's steady in front of goal and it doesn't matter at what level he's playing he will always be that.

I'm always wary of relying too heavily on the 'percentage of shots on target' stat in isolation. 'On target' doesn't mean it was a good shot, and it doesn't take into account the quality of the chances the forward is getting.  You could get every shot on target, but if they're soft and straight at the keeper you'll score very little.  Keinan Davis' shots on target percentage while on loan at Forest was 46% (higher than Cam, Ings and Watkins), yet people on here think he can't finish for toffee.

Of the shots they get DID get on target in the championship, Davis (38%) scored a higher percentage than Cam (35%).  And I say that as someone who thinks Cam is a way better long-term prospect than Keinan (though they are clearly very different players).  I merely point this out to illustrate that stats are useful, but they don't paint a full picture until you start looking at everything as a whole.

I was going to mention the impact of the shots on target as you have but on 2nd thoughts i left it out because itís a valid stat.  A shot on target has to be saved, collected or cleared it doesnít matter what level the shot is as the keeper has to do his job stopping every shot. If he doesnít itís a goal.  A good striker will make the keeper work.

A top-corner headed goal in off the bar against an oligarch-built team in front of your away fans....most players go through entire careers without experiencing such a special moment, he did it in one of his first games for the club.

Looks really smooth on the ball, lovely touch and balance. I can see him putting Watkins under a lot of pressure as the main striker this season.

I can see him challenging for a regular start, for sure.

Hope so, he certainly holds the ball up well.

Heís got the look of Buendia about him when he picks it up in deeper or wider positions. Which is no bad thing.
