Archer misses chances too.  He missed 3 or 4 before his great header against Chelsea.

Heís a fantastic prospect but people are getting carried away.  Watkins scored for fun in the Championship but is missing chances for us.  Solanke just scored 29 and Weiman 22 but nobody would suggest they could be the answer.  Cam may be a great asset in time but people need to be realistic.  Itís a big ask to come straight in and hope heíd outgun out two England strikers.

Totally agree. The step up from U23s and lower leagues to regular premier league starter is huge. Itís exciting to see kids coming through, and we look to have a very good generation. But the idea that he is ready to replace one of our England strikers as a week in week out starters / that weíd be doing better with him playing is very wishful thinking. Another championship season imho would be a much more beneficial plan for him.

I would only loan him out until Jan -like we did with Grealish- then review it in 2023.

Who knows, if he continues his rapid improvement, he could be ready for some first-team action after Xmas.

That would be the most sensible approach.

I think another loan to the Championship would be really helpful in his continued development.

I guess it will depend what we do with strikers over summer, if we stick with Ings and Watkins Iíd quite like him to stay for first half of season because there is a very real possibility of getting proper game time.  If he goes to the Championship hopefully it will be somewhere better than Preston, needs to be a side who are actually going to challenge for the top 6.

Archer & Davis have done exactly what they will have been challenged to do, go out on loan, excel and give Gerrard something to think about.

Fully deserves that u21 call up 👏

Yeah and this isnít a criticism, but didnít Camís goal scoring drop off? Fully understandable if it did, heís a talented youngster learning his craft, but I think continued exposure to regular game time is important. I also personally think itís more important for a striker to play at a young age.

Yep, 5 in his first 10 games then 2 in the last 10. I think teams worked out how to stop him getting the ball in dangerous areas but that's as much a reflection on Preston as a midtable championship team that struggled for goals, he scored about 30% of their goals since his arrival. Another season in the championship would do him wonders, I'm ok with him going back to Preston though, they weren't far off playoff form with him there so if they can match that over a full season I think he'd gain a lot from it.

I agree.  Preston is a no risk option where we know he's settled, the manager and fans like him and he will get game time.   Makes sense to me.

Maybe Deano should take him to Norwich?

Archer, almost 21 apparently needs another loan.

Anyone remember when clubs like spam took chances on their younger stars who had something about them despite having forwards like Di Canio and Kanoute in their ranks? The then 19 year old took his chance and never looked back.

The Championship is the most deceiving league ever. Mitrovic won't hit a barn door again next season in the top flight.

Mitrovic is a monster and he will gobble-up the goals next season (not 43 mind, but 13 would be decent).

Did he last time he was here?

I don't recall that he did.
And, re Archer, I think he'd be better off in our first-team squad next season - as long as SG gives him plenty of gametime. 20-25 minutes at the end of many games, after Watkins or AN Other has worked their nuts off for the first 65-70 minutes, would give him the chance to get the pace and physicality of the division and offer him the chance to run at tiring defences.
