Rather than the bottom end of the Championship, I'd like to see him at the top of League One. Winning games, contributing to wins and potential silverware. For too long we've been in the doldrums and now we seem to be heading up the way, I'd rather have players with experience of what it takes to succeed rather than avoid failure.

I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference, as long as they're getting game time. It would depend on the player I reckon, some would thrive on the challenge of a relegation dogfight, and some might think they'd made it if they were playing for a team walking the league. Or the exact reverse could be true. As long as they're playing though, I think all experience is valuable.

Yep, I guess so, my preference would be as described though and being around winners.

Surely an untried youngster has a better chance of getting a game at a club that is struggling and needs to find something 'different' to improve results, than at a club that's already doing really well in their league? Unless it's a loan to replace someone sold or injured?

Wasn't Grealish's loan at Notts County a season spent in a relegation fight in League One?  (just checked, it's was. They finished one place above the relegation zone. And the top two who got automatic promotion from League One that season? Wolves and Brentford.)

If he doesn't go out on loan, he's not going to develop, and he could even be overtaken by Keinan Davis next season if his loan spell at Forest continues to impress.

Fair point, but who would the back-up striker be then?

With the arrival of Coutinho I presume Ings and Watkins will now be competing for one place.  If that's the case it may be better for Cam to get a good loan rather than sit on the bench.

He isn't going to get much of a run out with us any time soon, makes sense to send him on loan.

They are more likely to do something than a kid, though.

The problem is when we try to play them both at the same time.

Yeah youíre probably right

But if he does get 20 minutes here or there and scores 1or 2 goals heís already in front of the two weíve got who are struggling to finish
Iíve got no idea how good he is or will be but if he is a natural finisher Gerard will have him in
I donít think he cares about age or reputation, just can you do the job

Maybe itís too soon like you say but unless we bring in better options he might get a go and take his opportunity

Off on loan to Preston apparently. Decent move for him.

Good luck, Cam.  Think it's an excellent move for him, by the way.  Exactly what I'd hoped for - get a run of games in the Championship under his belt, score a few goals, he'll be in a position to start to pressure Watkins & Ings for a starting place next season.

Good chance of getting games too if he can replace 32 year old, ex-Villan Scott Sinclair.

Yes, hopefully he will get more game time than Sinclair does. He seems to be a regular substitute this season with little actual game time.
